This is just horrible, but this line from the article
quote:

Renna O’Rourke and her boyfriend DoorDashed aerosol keyboard cleaner to her parents’ Tempe, Arizona, home without her mother’s knowledge

So, they could only get it through DoorDash? If her mother would have known she had keyboard cleaner she would have put a stop to the shenanigans?

What am I missing here?

19yr old.

What were they gonna do? Restrict her to a Nabi (tablet for toddlers)? Disable wifi?

Even if they knew she purchased keyboard cleaner... how would they know she'd misuse it?

You're right. They grow up faster these days but sadly are so misled by the fake internet lives they want to emulate

Dad must be a crisis manager/fixer, the only thing more "fixer" would have been to use sub-optimal instead.

The problem is they grow up SLOWER.

We have people infantilizing 19yr olds... generations past, these same 19yr olds would have jobs, families of their own or be fighting in wars. We've vastly overextended "childhood".

Ok, again I agree with you. I'm old, 58, and my generation did grow up and become responsible sooner than the current generation. I was self employed at 16 and at the age of 20 I was a bar owner.(Big Mistake) I guess what I meant was that when my daughter was 19 I was the "cool" dad and could be very involved with her life and her friends lives without beind noticed. It payed off. They made mistakes but they're all alive and thriving today.

It is a weird mix of both. In some ways, they are far more worldly at a much younger age due to the internet and social media, but they are stunted in a whole set of different ways.

It's a different world now... maturity and responsibility retardation paired with instant gratification and pedestrian fame culture are a bad combo for today's "young adults".

"Cheers" I've got my eyes on you. Now, in keeping with the current trends may I ask what pronouns you identify with. Asking for a friend of course.

Thanks. I was going to point out (guess I still am ) that I was on the other side of the world sitting on a DMZ when I was 19. It's become the internet go-to to slam the parents of anyone under 25 that fricks up.I get it's a reaction to parents avoiding all responsibility, but, holy shite, when can I let these frickers move out?

I personally know a grown arse child that's closing in on 40. I've given up hope on that kid.

It is getting even better. Latest DEA alert to medical community is that fentanyl is now being cut with a high potency veterinary tranquilizer.

People were getting married at 19 in my parents’ day. They most certainly do not grow up faster these days.

To the other person’s point - why would her parents be supervising her at 19? She’s old enough to be away at college or living on her own at that point.

Seeing it only from afar, yet I can safely and unequivocally state emphatically that being famous is vastly overrated.

I was semi famous in a small geographic area for about a year and I can confirm that sucked, ultimately.

I can't imagine being actually famous over a large area where you couldn't get away. That's why when I see people mad at famous people for being dicks to them in public after the stars are just minding their business and are interrupted, I am on team famous person.
