Ok. Then tell BR to frick off. You don’t want their involvement with this, trust me.

You’re all missing the plot. The private investors won’t sign on unless there is a limited non compete with the River Center. That’s what they need Baton Rouge to agree to.

I would love to hear her explain exactly what she means by this.

If I remember correctly, this proposal already has 6 votes, and would only need one more to advance, or just have one of the people opposed not shown up tomorrow. Chauna can bitch and moan all she wants, but I'm thinking that the new arena is going to pass.

She's worried about people from her district not being able to travel to the new arena? It's 3 miles farther than the river center!

The main thing is can she stop it if everyone else is in favor of it? Seems not.

Shauna Banks and her ilk are a large majority of the reason this city will never have “nice things”

100% truth. BR can't get out of its own way.

She also finds issue with the fact that the project is seemingly so far along without the input of surrounding stakeholders like Southern University.

She is basically playing race card to try and get something out of deal. Money or some free time for Southern to hold events.

If Southern doesn’t require the River Center to hold these events then this doesn’t involve them at the institutional level at all. It doesn’t have to directly help the university at all as they lose nothing and give up nothing to get it built.

The Southern students, alumni, and their businesses will benefit from any increase in concerts and other events that would have bypassed Baton Rouge. Since they live in community they will also gain any benefit the city/parish gains from the project and then uses for community like every other resident.

It’s the same hold their hand out to get something for nothing that black “leaders” have been doing for decades which they conveniently forget when screaming reparations along with affirmative action, quotas, special protections, business outreaches, charities, out of proportion generational welfare usage, out of proportion violent crime, and the destruction of communities and school districts that they have been handed to run.

Looks like Chauna couldn’t extort anyone. Voted 10-1 with an abstention. Glad to see Chauna was not able to sidetrack something until she got something personally.

I don’t think this project is a good idea. But not for the reasons Banks stated.

LSU is not in the business of supporting communities to the extent you are referring …. LSU is not the government

Baton Rouge is responsible for the economic well being of said areas.

Bro, you can't get me all excited that she actually said something like that in the video when she didn't

I was as giddy as a school boy for a minute

But remember last year when Chauna sent out a flyer that said Garrett Graves endorsed when he clearly did not ( Story at Kiran)

I actually agree with her. A developer says he wants the city to never compete with his businesss?

“I won’t develop something great for BR if you don’t guarantee me that I’ll be the only concert place in town”
