I nominate Ron Gathe. Former Felony prosecutor with the DA and current US Attorney for US Middle District. Catholic High alum and I think he is in their athletic hall of fame. Super guy, smart and def tough on crime. Let him hire a Walter Monsour type to run the business side /admin side while Ron cleans up the city.

Hardly anybody votes in the mayor election. If the side that wants law and order, prosperity, and progress would stop being so defeatist and back a decent candidate they could pull enough votes to elect them.

Go spend a few days and do some research on Mountain Brook, AL. While not even the most aggressive policing will stop all crime, basic patrols, stop and frisk, etc can make a huge impact.
