but my question is how come he didn't do it last year or how come you didn't do it when you first entered the NFL?

Notice Kaep waited until after he signed a $114,000,000 contract last year.

Incorrect.

quote:

are 9 times more likely to die from a police officer than any other demographic.

My demographic also commits a disproportionate amount of crime. Sad but true.

Also, my demographic doesn't get shot at a higher rate than others. That's a false narrative.

quote:

America has a disgustingly dark and racist past.

So does every other country on this planet. Most decidedly more sordid than ours.

Also, name me another country that has done as abrupt an 180 on prevailing race relations in so short a time. You can't.

America isn't perfect, and we can and should always strive to be better than we are now, but some folks are forgetting just how privileged we are because we're so intent on dredging up our dark past, holding onto grudges, and turning it into current strife.

I reject the narrative that I'm oppressed in 2016 because of the color of my skin. I reject the propensity for some to paint law enforcement with a broad brush as racists when I see countless examples to the contrary every day, not to mention know how unfair it is to brand an entire profession as ne'er-do-wells.

That's the same thing Americans did to Vietnam vets. It was wrong with regard to soldiers then, it's wrong with regard to cops now.

Meant 13%. The problem is racism in the judicial system and LEO community are not being dealt with adequately and the stats back that up. Do you ever wonder why the BC has high crime, abortion, and poverty levels compared to other races? Its by design mostly through democratic/republican policies.

But typed 2%? Strange. That's not even close to a possible typo. I doubt your veracity.

First of all, there is no "black community." It's a misnomer that applied once upon a time but now needs to go the way of the dodo. Black people are not a homogeneous entity any longer.

Secondly, no, I don't wonder. It's pretty easy to figure out. The decline of the nuclear family (specifically the lack of fathers and father figures), and the way the majority of folks in this demographic enable each others' recalcitrant and recidivist behaviors has a far more negative impact than any policies passed on Capitol Hill.

You know what the great thing is about America in this day and age?

You can CHOOSE to either make something of yourself or not. You can CHOOSE whether to live your life as a victim or as an overcomer. Everyone will not have the same starting point. That's life. It's not fair. It will never be fair. But YOU can decide whether your beginnings ultimately make or break you.

I choose to live my life on my own terms. I choose to seize the opportunities afforded to me in this country instead of acting oppressed.

We can't change this country's past. It's checkered, as every nation's is, like i said in my previous post. What we CAN do is keep moving forward instead of regressing back into old hate/bitterness. Otherwise we'll never get past it.

Racism will never be completely stamped out. That's not a realistic goal. What we can strive for, however, is to make racist notions/actions ridiculous along the lines of flat-earth truthers today.

Blacks are not more likely than whites to be killed by cops. There is no genocide by cops against blacks. The fricking president is black, so there's not even any real "oppression" against blacks.

I can't even get my 2 yr old to eat vegetables yet you actually believe white people have such mind altering power that we force grown arse adults to commit crimes and have abortions? Do you ever step back and think about how insulting that is to black people? And in the same country where countless black people succeed?

I tend not to post in these sort of threads, but I couldn't resist this one.

I can't fathom blaming my station in life, or my personal decision to have unprotected sex or commit a crime, on the government.

I just don't understand this world view. It's so useless and self-defeating. And seemingly educated people like TJGator pushing it do nothing but harm.

you look at most of American policies throughout US history you'll see that CK is right. Minorities have been oppressed and in many ways destroyed, whether it be treating women and minorities as property, racist phrases/propaganda for minorities, the destruction of families by the introduction of drugs into low income neighborhoods, the War on drugs and judicial sentencing against minorities, the burning of black Wall street and like minded neighborhoods by white Americans, the KKK, Jim Crow, the Indian Removal policies, internment of Japanese Americans in camps during WW2, Attitudes towards Muslims, Hispanics, Asian Americans, etc etc.

America has a disgustingly dark and racist past

It's like this every where, and much worse. It makes sense there are racial tensions in America. We weren't originally from here.

But my issue is don't disrespect it. Don't disrespect what gives you that right.

He basically said he did some research over 2 months. I'm betting his research was race baiting media. You wanna talk racism? Everyone is racist, you think blacks like whites or Latinos? You think latinos like gringos and blacks? Hell no. More whites are killed in this country by minorities than the other way around.

Asians seem to do just fine here without having to assimilate. Don't see the Japanese blaming anyone, looking for hand outs.

Whoa, hold up now I love latinos (I choose to live in a majority hispanic city, and it's fricking awesome), and I've been married to a white girl for over 5 years now.
