Can confirm. My son knows the kid and this is spot on.

Dumb.

You can get a house that is just as nice in a decent area of metro Los Angeles for the same price.

This is 11.5 million. It's not quite as opulent, but sort of similarly gaudy. In some ways, I'd probably dig it over Guidry's version of gaudiness.

Feels like someone must have put a zero in the wrong place.

The exterior design is very nice. I don't mind the opulent inside or a big fancy entrance hall, but there are too many huge spaces. Humans aren't comfortable in such spaces. The "dining room", for example, is laughably bad.

And what kind of dolt builds a house that big and doesn't include a library?

This is also a terrible deal

Does everyone in Metairie have such terrible taste

Look at the listing history. That house couldn’t even sell for $369k 5 months ago. And now they’re asking $670k?

Clearly they didn’t gut it in the last 5 months as it doesn’t look like it’s been updated since the 80s. What the f*ck are they thinking?

The Brandts didn't build their house for the record. Vic Castellon did. It's not nearly as bad as the Guidry disneyworld monstrosity.

I went to school with one of the daughters. They had a pool that was built by the people who built the disney world water parks and it was one of the coolest things ever. We were over there all the time.

I was so pissed when I found out Brandt got rid of the rock waterslide and waterfall for the pool

ETA: but Brandt did build the second house on the property and put up some shitty looking fence. Looked way better when the Castellons were there.

If thats the same family I'm thinking of, In 2011-12, I sold him a brand new home 600K for his son when he graduated high school and started at LSU. Never dealt with Shane, only his PA.

Exactly. Southern California is great for people that can afford to spend $16m on a home.

Who is this guy?

Son of Robert Guidry. Ex- Edwin Edwards protege and casino owner.

The embarrassment of riches...

Meet Shane Guidry

"The arc of Guidry’s career begins with his father, Robert Guidry, known as Bobby, whose story in turn began with his father, Numa, who moved from New Orleans to Galliano in the 1950s to become an oysterman. In time, Numa assembled a fleet of vessels to tow barges along the coast. Bobby Guidry eventually took over the business, and he insisted that his children learn it from the ground up."
