My cousin lives an hour north of Austin Texas. He said he was eating on his back patio when the front came through yesterday. All of a sudden he noticed a piece of plywood landed in his backyard, 30 seconds later he and his family were in a closet, 30 seconds after that it was over and his house was destroyed.

Is the discrete cell threat setting up a bit more west than expected? Latest SPC discussion is on an expected watch NWLA/ETX into SC Arkansas

Latest HRRR shows some potential individual cells in the area hefore getting linear further east

Good.

Alright, looking over the CAMs this morning...they aren't as angry as last night.

I'm gonna call this one, roughly Deltaland since this is about where he is.

So not great, but the dews are a little lower than what was being shown last night and the instability is a little lower.

But the other thing is I'm seeing more linear vs open clusters/discrete cells this morning too.

Hopefully this evolution is what happens because it would help take the high end off the tornado threat.

Vs last night, yes. The CAMs weren't all that interesting in firing cells until this afternoon. We have a good linear segment going by this afternoon now, with cells firing earlier.

The good news is the instability hasn't built up as much yet but the low level shear is nasty.

What’s the timing on that sounding?

It rained earlier and was pretty cool out at 64 degrees but now it’s blue sky and heating up fast. 79 degrees on my truck dash right now

What time should the Little Rock area start their prayers?

Honestly, I'm planning on shutting down early to make sure all my folks can get home. We typically leave at 4:30. You think this will be on Little Rock before 3:30?

Yes. Id imagine more like 1 or 2. Timing is always a little tricky as it develops.

I don’t think the tornado threat will be that great from Memphis north. Western/north ms, North LA, East Ark.

I think moderate risk should be extended south imo. My area, southern Arkansas, and north La is clear sky and heating up fast. And will continue to heat up over the next 4 hours leading to the area of highest instability

Here is the latest tornado watch, covering much of southern and central Arkansas, NE Texas, and NW Louisiana.

Probabilities within the watch:

Tornadoes
Probability of 2 or more tornadoes - High (70%)
Probability of 1 or more strong (EF2-EF5) tornadoes - Mod (40%)

Wind
Probability of 10 or more severe wind events - High (80%)
Probability of 1 or more wind events > 65 knots - Mod (60%)

I'd go with the Southern two thirds of AR ro start and work toward MS. The line still looks quite broken with either embedded supercells or semi-discreet cells. Follow it along into Delta's neck of the woods, and it should line out completely by the time it is just past him.

I still think there's a sneaky chance N. LA could see a significant threat. FWIW, the only PDS I pulled on the HRRR was generally in North central LA. I didn't save it and couldn't find it again.

And another watch (likely a tornado watch) will be coming for parts of northern Arkansas, SE Missouri, and southern IL:

Alright Arkansas people, what is the story on Perry County's Northwest border? Did the town drunk draw that thing?

Zmonsoon is headed to Russellville, looks like that cell will be headed southeast of town.
