Spotters reporting golf ball size hail just west of St. Louis.

It's still more of a hail and wind threat than significant tornadoes. Kinematics not ideal for an outbreak of tornadoes, but there will likely be a few. Thinking around the area those cells in eastern OK fired off over and into southern Kansas has the most likely tornado risk.
I'm hoping it lines up quickly and it's just high winds and isolated large hail, we'll see as the afternoon continues.

I flew from California to my other house and business in southern Oklahoma. It's supposed to hit late afternoon/early evening. I'm probably just going to drink some whiskey and plan to stay inside tonight.
Keep us updated please.

What's it looking like for DFW today?

St. Louis looks like it's about to get rocked. I'm looking at the air traffic into/out of STL and the flights are basically having to go all the way down to Arkansas then back up. Guessing there will be some diversions shortly

yeah, national weather service tweeted out size chart for hail, so they can report it as its used on chart.
Must be some nasty shite, i've never seen them post that hail chart before.

Tornado sirens going off in Union, MO just west of St. Louis.

Ah so the afternoon one didn't end up forming?

FM station here said that some Yukon and El Reno area (west of OKC) schools are shutting down early...
....which seems overly cautious because it's not supposed to really hit the OKC metro until about 530-600pm. They do seem to respect the potential for severe weather here.
EDIT: OKC schools closing 30 minutes early.

Don't see it, it's too broad of a rotation imho. Some viscous winds though, there will be some wind damage in the dark blue.
Worth keeping an eye on.

As we should, VP that moved here from IL commented on this yesterday. It's very serious here based on what happens on a yearly basis. Joplin is a couple hours up the road, Moore has been hit like three times in the last few year. They give away storm shelters as prizes on the radio, with the purchase of new cars sometimes.

damn, we just got a new roof, from the bad storms last year.

It's forming up to your west this afternoon is the experts thinking and then pushing through the metroplex around 8 pm. I never want to say no, because it's really a probability game but the current thinking makes sense.
Saw a sounding (shows temperatures as you go up through the atmosphere) for Ft. Worth still has warmer air just above the surface and it'll take time to erode. Ought to keep it quiet until post rush hour.
You can see what I'm talking about here. Warmer air rises, and the the x axis is temperature. The rightward jog of the line just above the surface shows the warmer air above that "caps" the storms from rising.
Better news is the wind direction profile at the far right, you can see a notable western component about 850 mb. So imagine stirring a cup of coffee. Stir quickly in one direction and you get a little vortex. Now imagine you abruptly change direction of spin, and the vortex gets mixed out. That should limit tornado potential over y'all.

Let's hope it stays that way. You were pretty helpful in the last outbreak in Louisiana a month or so back. Thanks for your insight.
