So, we might get a lot of rain? Cold? Snow? Flood? Heat?

Why does the weather service use such non-specific language?

Enhanced risk?

Severe weather?

These outlooks are for severe weather (i.e. thunderstorms producing tornadoes, damaging straight line winds, and large hail).

BTW, Monday marks the 19th anniversary of the deadly Tuscaloosa tornado from December 16, 2000
And was seen live on TV with this special TV weather coverage as it was unfolding

I was young, but remember it well. That was a Saturday, as I remember my Mom and I spending the day at church practicing for our Christmas program. My Dad called us and told us to come home when the weather started getting bad and we watched it unfold live that afternoon.

That video was one of the first (at least in this area) instances of a tornado being captured on a live camera feed. I believe James Spann and his weather team won an Emmy for their coverage.

Because we just found out some megavolcano in Yellowstone is about to erupt and wipe us all out.

Next to that, who gives a ahit about some sprinkles?

We're having trouble pinning down an exact forecast on that one.

The consensus is that the range is somewhere between "tomorrow" and "a couple of thousand years from now"

Other than needing to fight off all the Yankees fleeing south, Louisiana is right outside the ash radius.
