IMO, the Facebook deal probably made everybody tense.

The Saimta are a cash cow to WWL. Anyone puts that in jeopardy, don't be looking for lunch invites.

I guess we'll see how it works out. I personally think he got bad advice.

I don't think this is it... but if you are right... I'd put money on the fact that some larger market (i.e. ESPN) would hire him.

Yep, time to switch from sport broadcasting to a Jemele Hill type role of “highlighting injustice” against LGBTQ people. It’s obvious he’s using this for the settlement and to transition his career to a cushy job in “highlighting injustice”

Living as an openly gay man can be difficult. Living as an openly gay man in the Deep South is even more difficult. Living as an openly gay man in the Deep South with a career in sports broadcasting, a career field that is traditionally highly homophobic, is incomprehensibly challenging. While I had developed emotional armor throughout my life, that armor was shattered earlier this week when my sexuality became the focus of local and national news headlines as a result of a hateful and homophobic Twitter attack from the official Twitter account of my employer.

I guess he was too busy writing his Brees hit piece to enjoy Southern Decadence.

just speculation, but...
1) clearly his "open letter" didnt sit well with many fans/listeners, nor some of his colleagues
2) this opened him up to likely hostility, veiled or otherwise, among his co-workers, who probably see him as an easy target
3) once again, seth dunlap brought all of this upon himself. he may have felt strongly about his opinion of brees' support-by-proxy of that organization, but he had to have know that this would open him up to hostility inside and outside. why he thought this was worth it is beyond my understanding
4) the line is now blurred between criticism of dunlap's grandstanding on the FoF issue, and homophobia. that is dunlap's fault, not WWL's. WWL is required however to investigate workplace harassment, which that tweet definitely was an example of

This is all example of why whenever a entertainer, athlete, etc, wanders away from their craft, we end up with a shite sandwich.

1) Brees talks about bring your bible to school, which has nothing to do with football, and is sponsored by a group that has an anti-gay agenda.

2) Some people get butthurt, complain.

3) Brees feels the need to explain himself.

4) Some people are still butthurt, continue to complain.

5) other people are butthurt that the first group is butthurt, and they complain. And in one case, use their employer's social media account to complain.

If Brees doesn't talk about non-football stuff, OR a group doesn't get butthurt, OR another group doesn't get butthurt because the first group got butthurt, then, we don't end up here.

If the football players would talk about football, and the football commentators would talk about football, none of this happens.

Man talk about an overreaction.

This dude sure knows how to milk this attention.

WWL will pay him a settlement and he will return to SJW land in Portland.

Just showing how a pebble thrown into the water can have a far-reaching impact.

Nah. I don't want football players talking about blacks, hate, or Christianity.

Shut up and play football. I'll take my moral guidance from elsewhere.

I truly believe this targeted attack was, in part, the result of deteriorating civil discourse in our country. Powerful men and women have decided to make hate, bigotry, and divisiveness platforms for their advancement in public life. It’s apparent that far too many people have forgotten the ugly lessons of the past, and this growing divide threatens to shatter the very foundations of an equal and welcoming society.
