LaTech - had a better and more respected engineering program and I had no desire to graduate and go work for a plant.
When was this???? Tech to me is the most disappointing thing about our state college system. We have a tech school that doesn't even stand out in regard to STEM degrees.
And I say that as an LSU engineering grad who will be disappointed if my kids go to LSU. Not trying to knock LSU, but it doesn't stick out as a "good" school. You can argue all you want that you can get just as good an education and that may be true, but you will never put it above many schools. I hope my kids are fairly intelligent and I plan to have the funds so that tuition is not a limiter. So why would I limit them to a school that you have to argue is just as good when they can go to a school that is widely already recognized as good?
But back to the OP's point, I think people can tell from my tone that I don't think LSU is anything special. But at the same time, I get his point that there really is no other public institution in the state that is special either. I enjoyed my time in BR and can maybe see having a college experience in Lafayette. I honestly could not see attending any other public school in the state and enjoying my experience. Totally a personal opinion.

I’m from Texas and went to LSU. Does anyone want to fight?

It’s extremely disconcerting, his constant petulance.

It sure is, S. I’m not a fan of his cavalier attitude towards us.

It’s completely reprehensible and utterly indelicate.

Tulane is a much better school and NOLA is a much better city.

Of course, had I known then what I know now, I would have applied to UNC or UVA.

College is about finding the right fit and making it want. People shite all over ulm but I loved the hell out of my 4 years there. It’s all about getting where you fit in.

Went to ULL for 2 yrs and grade pt. average dropped every semester.
Was going to transfer to LSU and would have lost 21 hrs.
Said F that and went to NSU and loved the next 3 yrs.
Drove to LSU for football games though.

I went to LSU, but a degree is a degree and Baton Rouge as a college town is not head and shoulders above its counterparts in LA. Personally, if I had to do it all over again, I would go to LSU, but I can understand why people would choose other schools.
