I would imagine the states best and brightest would go to institutions of higher learning than LSU such as Tulane or ULL

I attended an elite liberal arts college on the east coast. Then I went to LSU for graduate school.

In the immortal words of Van Halen, I got the best of both worlds.

My son is a freshman at UL and during orientation I was surprised to see how many people from Nola were there.

Good combo. Undergrad away was a great choice.

harder to get into

Lol, is that even a statement that belongs in the same paragraph with getting into LSU? If you can't get into LSU, or ULL, or even ULM.... probably should go be a welder or be an operator. We're not talking prestigious universities. They all issue pieces of paper to wipe your arse with that won't mean a damn thing after you've got 2-3 years experience in whatever respective field.

This is true for the majority of colleges across the country. I don't give a shite what college someone went to after they have sufficient work experience. In my career I've had people working under me and my LSU degree that went to Tulane, U of Texas, Davidson and various other schools. It doesn't really matter in most professions after a few years into your career.

Went to Tulane and got buried in debt. If I had to do it over I would have went to LSU.

Lame reason, but I didn't have a vehicle.

I didn't want to go to a school that large and not enjoy the city life to its full extent.

Scholarships from Tech helped as well.

But to be fair, I'd do school entirely differently if I were 18 again.

It happens man. Don't beat yourself up ( lol, I should say that to myself)

What's important is that you recognize what went wrong and try to correct your course. I'd rather pay off debt but have a fulfilling career than vice versa.

I’d planned on it but TOPS wrecked that when it turned out that about 2/3 of my HS graduating class was ending up there instead of out of state schools.

After going through school from pre-K through 12 with some individuals, it was time for a fresh start elsewhere.

A lot like Lafayette better than Baton Rouge. They aren't wrong.

It is so ridiculous. Oxford is a much better college town.

It has the advantage of actually being a college town while Baton Rouge is a city.
