re: Serious question: why do older people hate rap so much?

we prefer music to rap

I am 46 and when in the wife’s car I put on Rock the bells radio on Sirius. (Until the trial runs out). I also listen to 80’s and 90’s era rap on Amazon and Pandora. Hell my son who is 9 tells Alexa to play Run-DMC, Beastie Boys and Joan Jett. I like to think I am winning at parenting.

I dislike Rap because the vast majority of it is horrible. There are some good Rap songs, but not enough to justify the genre.

There is obviously not much to say about the tunes. They are just carriers of the lyrics. So the genre has to rise and fall on the lyrics. I ask you: what is better...

Really, man, did you have to start this thread? Rap is almost universally bad poetry for the barely literate.

Lil Flake can sure spit out a tune.

The worst part is when the rhyme a word with the same word.

And what I mean by an electric guitar being once seen like beat machines, I mean there were some... I guess we can call them purist who thought the electric guitar allowed people who played guitar to make artificial sounds... dumbass.

1989-1990's was the best rap ever had.

Now it's just shitty music.
