Serious question: why do older people hate rap so much?

It seems that people over 40 lose their minds every time a rap song comes on. What is it? I’m not being sarcastic. I really do want some opinions.
Before you say “they rap about drugs and fricking girls,” take a listen to some 80’s rock.
I’ll hang up and listen.

I think it’s more like over 45 or maybe even 50.

It’s a generational thing. Your grandparents hated rock, your parents hate rap.

Must never have heard of the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, NWA, and 2 Live Crew (to mention a small amount of just 80s rap).

Serious answer: some of it isn’t that bad, especially stuff from the 80s and part of the 90s, but once “hardcore gangster” rap took over it all went to shite.

Because it's mindless shite.

It's the dollar store of music genres

I'm in the demographic and I'd say it's imprinted in an older persons brains rap ain't music. It's talking with a cadence. Younger folks are imprinted with HipHop and they like it. Big bass rhythm line with vile curse words I guess is attractive. Young folk want to live in the hood I guess. I got no problem man. Just not imprinted.

It glorifies behavior that has destroyed black families and communities. And it sucks.

But why? That’s what I’m asking. I’m not a “fan” of rap either, but I just want to know.

Quite possibly the best answer I’ve ever heard or read.
