LINK

"Everyone gets something". I only skimmed it. It does mention "Morrish said under the law, money is only available to students who make a 26 or higher on the ACT".

And it sounds like if you have to sit out for a year due to finances, you won't lose TOPS like you would now if you sit out. How would you prove that it was due to finances and not "Oh I needed/wanted a break"?

Link corrected. Sorry. It did leave me confused.

Should have been done a long time ago. We spent way too long investing in too many students who would do little to nothing for the state with their degrees.

Instead of awarding full scholarships to smart kids (26+ ACT), they are awarding partial scholarships so that the tards can go to college too.

There is a massive difference between a 26 and a 30+ on the ACT, yet the idiots in the legislature want to treat them all the same. Gonna lose a lot of high performing students to other states bc of this

So does that meant you can start college a year after you graduate high school?

Maybe if you can't pay for it yes according to these changes that passed??? Again, I'm still somewhat confused.

Watching the Senate session for today. Talk about a non-stop circle jerk. Who woulda thought that a large part of the Senate's business includes giving condolences, welcoming all sorts of guests, and giving certain days titles. April 21st was designated School-Based Health Care Awareness Day in Louisiana.

All this does is make it easier for JBE to raise taxes.

I agree but to me a 26 is on the high side. I have a dog in the fight as I have a high school senior but he's above that so the 26 doesn't affect him. I know kids who are taking dual enrollment classes and have a 4.0 through ULL while they also have a 4.0 or close to it in my sons class ... yet they didn't make a 26 on the ACT. I just think a 26 is a bit high.

Shultz he was replying to my op which I edited ... at first I skimmed it so fast that I took away that EVERYONE (4.0/29, 2.5/22) would all get something equal. He responded to my bad info.

It was inevitable but this will lead to a larger talent exodus from Louisiana.
The Senate Bill
Don't see the 26 ACT score minimum in there

Perhaps 24-25 might be a better compromise but 20 is just too damn low. That is literally the benchmark for even being eligible for most schools.
