The cost of insurance is the only reason I’m not self employed. This country sucks.

To be fair, I do live far enough away from the VA that I can use my own personal doctor and have it billed to the VA, so I’ve probably got a few good years left
Thanks, President Trump!

There has to be a better solution.
There is: find someone else to run that company and go get a corporate job. I stuck almost $20K in my pocket before I got my first paycheck.
ETA: This is by design btw. Big gov't needs big business. They can't control you if you own your own business and provide for yourself. They want you dependent on them OR a large company that they can control through taxation/legislation.

Military. One of the biggest reasons why I joined. Saves me a shite ton each month since I'm self-employed.
I pay $40/month for tricare. I would probably be shelling out $600 to $800/month for private.

My wife taught in EBRSS for many years. The pension sucks, however, the health insurance benefits are excellent. I went self employed knowing I could always buy health insurance at a great rate. Now that we are on Medicare too, along with the Humana, we never seem to pay for anything.

and half the country doesn't pay shite.
why have we not revolted yet?

Damn I take my comment back. I only thought I was getting raped. We lay maybe $1400 for family of four, $5600 deductible.
It all sucks.

on my wife's the deductible is bullshite because not everything goes towards it. they get to randomly pick and choose what does and doesn't go towards it. it's so incredibly dysfunctional it's comical.

We have BCBS policy.
Deductible individual- $1200
Deductible family - $3600
Max out of pocket individual - $8550
Max out of pocket family - $17100
Premium $1643 per month
Family of 4, kids 6 and 4 years old
Got with a broker and this is the best we could get.

There are actually some good plans through the ACA marketplace.
Not in my area. There is one company and everything seems to be out of network.

The government does not provide healthcare, outside of the VA.
The op asked for insurance. The Government is the single largest provider in this country.
and there are 900 something public hospitals in the us. You have the VA, department of defense and department of health and human services.

I don’t mind those that are legitimately too sick to work or in between jobs, but I know so many people that are able bodied and choose not to work or work very little. They can almost live in the hospital and pay nothing. It’s not right.

We actually dropped BCBS when it got to $1,700+ for family of 4.
I signed up for Medishare, which I pay $430/month for a $10,000 deductible plan. It basically turns us into a cash customer for all minor things. Being all relatively healthy, we save over $1200/month on premiums which helps pay for anything we need for Dr visits or prescriptions during the year.

Christian Health Ministries .org
We use it and we pay 100% premium for our employees.
You’re on the hook for all visits up to $500…
They pick up 100% after that.
No co insurance
No deductible
