There are obvious things that would happen. There are other things that would happen that most people don’t think about.

My contribution: Asian carp would invade the Great Lakes if no one was keeping the electric barrier going

Just a thought exercise

I would finally become the tribal leader of a Mad Max style road gang.

TD.com would stop functioning and everyone here would have a complete meltdown.

Sort of like what's happening over on the SEC Rant right now.

I was thinking about something like this the other day: what did it used to look like 500 years ago before Europeans settled in the SE US as far as how tall the grass would get. Nobody cut it. We're there just Virgin forests everywhere? All the pastures you see in rural areas, were they just grass like now or were they clear cut 200 years ago?

Yeah.... If society failed, Carp overtaking the Great Lakes is something not on my radar.
I'm just shooting in the air, probably most folks would be concerned with:
-where their next meal is coming from
-how to protect themselves from roving thugs stealing, looting, raping women, and anything else they feel like doing
-how to process water so its safe to drink

etc........ just my opinion

We'll all have to dig holes in order to take a shite. Preferably the holes will be dug near sources of water so appropriate cleaning could occur afterwards.

Clean water is the most valuable resource in the history of mankind and that will be your number one priority. Figure that out first, then defense, then shelter, then food.

For those who think they'll survive on whitetail deer, deer will be extinct in 6 months, so you better come up with longer range plans.

Most of the SE United States WAS virgin, native forests. Very little was prairie or grasslands, maybe an occasional meadow. Land was not totally clear cut all at one time, but when it was acquired and homesteaded it was then cleared for farming crops and to create pasture land for livestock.

(reading a book now about the old days of British West Florida; went into quite a bit of detail about the settlement and clearing process there. They basically gave the land away to homesteaders and planters; the more folks in your family (or the more slaves you had) the more acreage you got.)
