I actually want to know if he is a veteran. The other guy is a total pos, but I am curious still.
According to the news report the victim showed his military ID to the cops.

Someone I know when on an Alaskan cruise this summer. It was her, her son (middle school) & her mom. Another group of people they knew were going and was staying on Seattle for 3 days, but they flew up there a day later to go to a Mariners game, etc.
Her son had to use the restroom. They couldn't just go into a McDonalds and run into the bathroom right quick. They have the McDonalds closed in and didn't let random people in the bathrooms. It wasn't the only place, he had to end up pissing in a plastic bottle.
The group they met there, the morning before the girl with her son and mom arrived, someone broke into their car and stole a bunch of shite out of it. They couldn't believe the amount of homeless people there were in the city.
I remember someone I knew.. years ago, had gone to Seattle for some teacher thing and I remember them telling me that outside the court house (I think they had to go there for something) was awful. Homeless people just sleeping on steps, smelled, etc..
We complain about New Orleans, but from what I understand being a tourist in Seattle sucks.
As for as this video.. Maybe the guy thought wheels was about to pull a gun on him.

This is the shooter's news footage from 5 years ago when he drove a van through a Republican Voter Registration Tent in a Wal Mart parking lot in Jacksonville, FL.
That's attempted murder. How is he out?

ETA: He got off with a criminal mischief conviction.

You don't get to instigate an encounter, physically touch someone, remain aggressive, and then get to claime self-defense. But it is in Seattle, so who the hell know
Let’s do a hypothetical.
You’re having a bad day, and someone accidentally stumbles into you, you say “back off, MFer” or something, he tells you F you, you shove him, he pulls a gun.
Now you’re supposed to just get shot without defending yourself?
I get that people who start a physical confrontation have a high threshold for proving self defense after it escalates, but it can’t be true that they can never claim self defense.
Even in this case, the guy seems like a total douche and shouldn’t be talking any shite at all while carrying a firearm, but once the other guy pulls a gun (first), what is he supposed to do?

The guy has priors? He is going away.
And he had a CC? In Washington state? Or was the firearm illegal?
It seems either way this dude will be gone for a while.

He's not from there. He's homeless. Might have jumped probation in Florida (that's just speculation). So I doubt he has a CC or if that gun is even registered.

Not really. You can't start an altercation and then shoot someone and claim self defense. There's pretty much some form of that law in every state.
But there's no way that's a black and white law though, right? "Confronting" someone verbally and them pulling a gun, that definitely escalates the situation to a MUCH higher level than just verbal.

It varies state to state. Zimmerman got off because Florida is a stand your ground state and once he was being attacked he had the right to defend himself even though in some people's eyes he started the whole thing
I think Seattle is duty to retreat which loosely means if you can get out of a situation you must attempt to first. If you can't, deadly force is justified.
But self defense is always muddy in court, and I don't think this guy is getting off.
Eta: I hate being on camera as much as anyone, but our constant surveillance state seems to make getting off on self defense easier than it was.

I get your scenario, but in this case, the attacker fully instigated the encounter and then ripped a patch or something off of the victim.
In most jurisdictions, I dont think self-defense would be allowed as a defense.
I carry in my vehicles at all times, and I will never escalate a road rage incident.
I'll avoid confrontation, and call police, if necessary. I would have to be fear for my, or my passengers safety, before I ever would resort to self-defense.

From a news report:
quote:
The defendant approached the victim, who was in a wheelchair on the boardwalk, near Starbucks, and he demanded the victim provide identification to prove his military status," Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Elaine Lee wrote in charging documents. "As the victim was taking out his wallet, the defendant removed a military patch from the victim's belongings. This caused the victim to arm himself with a knife."

From KOMO:
According to charges filed on Aug 5., Gregory William Timm, 32, claimed the victim, a 68-year-old man in a wheelchair, was pretending to be a member of the military in public.
"The defendant approached the victim, who was in a wheelchair on the boardwalk, near Starbucks, and he demanded the victim provide identification to prove his military status," Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Elaine Lee wrote in charging documents. "As the victim was taking out his wallet, the defendant removed a military patch from the victim's belongings. This caused the victim to arm himself with a knife."
Investigators said Timm continued to demand the victim's military ID, and the victim took out an airsoft gun from a holster.
"Before the victim could even do anything with it, the defendant pulled out his handgun, pointed it at the victim, and shot him point blank in the chest," Lee wrote.
"Timm extends his right arm, takes a couple of steps back, and fires one round from the pistol," a police report states.

The leftarda want this to happen. I've noticed more and more of them carrying, and running their mouth, so they can pull they can get innocent's to react and they shoot. And try to justify it

The Shooter is a member of the Stolen Valor Police. I can't understand why these douche bags can't mind their own business!
If anybody was defending themselves, it was the old guy in the wheelchair.

And that’s why the idiots on here keep saying that “crime is dowwwwn in the cities!!!”
It’s because the cities are reducing violent offenses to nothing and dropping other offenses all together. It’s as obvious as the color of the sky.. but the idiots persist.

Seattle will probably name a square after the shooter.

The fact that this is a white guy shooting a black guy is going to be a major story just because of the color of their skin
Well there are two things working against that.
1) the guy is a hard core liberal and faithful foot soldier.
2) the media absolutely, positively, completely, cannot give more credence to the claim that crime is ablaze in the cities. They are working against that since Trump is cleaning up DC. So this story doesn’t have a prayer of being a major nationwide story.

I wouldn't have produced proof if I had a Distinguished Service Cross, a Purple Heart, and a Boy Scout perfect attendance award in my pocket.
Timm did not have a personal right to demand proof of anything. He just wanted to shoot someone.

Wheelchair dude is a vet.
Was the shooter? If not, he should mind his own fricking business. Vets can call out or challenge stolen valor and only vets. Non-vets should mind their own damn business they don’t have the standing to get involved.
