Hitting Wintergreen this weekend(I know worst weekend to go of entire year)and taking my girls(6 & 8yrs old)skiing for the first time

They will be taking lessons of course but I've never "taught " someone to ski before. Any tips to make things easier and more fun for them?

Also, the best gloves I've ever had were some that were made of a wetsuit material I found in a bargain bin at a Skibarn 12 years ago. They were warm, never got my hands wet and form fitting, not bulky. I've never seen any like them since. Does anyone know a brand like this? If not, does anyone have suggestions for gloves that won't break the bank?

Thanks in advance

I'm going to Vail later this week and skiing 3 days. Will be my first time in Vail, any suggestions on how to maximize 3 days on the mountain? It's pretty big and I want to cover as much as possible.

Blue Sky Basin appears to face north which is good. It's been so warm lately, my understanding is avoid the South facing stuff during the mornings when conditions are Spring like as they've been the last week. Wait for the sun to soften up that snow, this would apply to all of the back bowls.

If there will be a powder day, get there early and get in line, go straight to the back. If no powder day, sleep in and wait for the crust to soften a bit like around 1030-11

I don't go to Vail if it's not a worthy powder day, so I really couldn't tell you how to maximize a crusty groomer day. Couple runs, beer, repeat multiple times.

Wednesday is going to be the warmest day of the year to date so I'm expecting Thursday to be extra crusty. Supposed to pick up some snow Thursday evening, maybe 4-5 inches. Wouldn't make for a true powder day but hopefully Friday and Saturday the snow will be softer.

Who's got some info on Mount Hood? I'm heading to Portland for work next week and was contemplating going up early to ski there this weekend. Weather looks warm this week but getting colder Thursday with snow Thurs-Saturday.

Seems legit but obviously doesn't hold up to Utah / Colorado. I've ski'd all over both of those states for the past 12 years or so.

Had a killer day at mammoth mountain last week. 27 runs, 34 miles, 28200 vertical feet. It was getting warm and people were skiing in t shirts. Doesn't look too promising for the rest of the season but hopefully more snow is on the horizon.

Please let it snow again.

Last Monday was an awesome pop up powder day in Breck. Leftovers on Tuesday. But it's been pretty rough since then.

Ski'd the Talons Challenge at Beaver Creek yesterday. 14 icy black or double black bump runs. Woulda been a blast on a pow day.

72 days on the mountain so far this season
