Went snow skiing for the first time in my life this past weekend (snowboarded once 10 years ago).
The Canyons out in Park City, UT. Had an awesome time, except my bro-in-law convinced me to try some blues in the afternoon on the second day. Very amateur skier + Steep slope + Icy snow = not a very good time.

Been lapping a short lift that is just a playground of boulders and booters under the lift line. Perfect firm but soft powder landings and no one else is touching my lines. Such a fun day so far. Trees are skiing well and groomers aren't too bad.
Morningside is legit.

Rode Wolf Creek last Wed-Sat.
No new snowfall while I was there.
Hiked Knife Ridge and the snowcat took us to top the bowl.
Tons of untouched snow and dropped some fresh lines down and through the trees.
One of my friends decided to tackle one of the aforementioned trees and ended his trip abruptly with a fractured pelvis and two cracked ribs.

Don't sell yourself short and only ride the resort. The backcountry around there is amazing too. Grab basic avy gear (beacon, probe, shovel), and we can get out there and tear it up

Meet me there on Wednesday. I can't find anyone to go with me, so I guess I am just going to sleep in a rental car in the parking lot at Kirkwood or something and find some ski bums to kick it with

Headed to Vail next Wednesday for 4 days. Anyone know what the snow is like right now up there? Looks like it's been a pretty good dry spell for the last couple of weeks.
Ski'd there from 2/18-2/20. It was in the heart of the dry/warm spell they've been going through. We got a few inches one night but it's about what you'd expect. The wind was really bad one day and actually affected the snow in some areas more than the temps.
Overall though groomers were actually nicer than expected, but I was disappointed in the condition of the bowls. I'd love to go back there when there's good powder because the bowl access was top notch.

Vail on a good powder day is the best resort riding I have ever experienced, but I've also only been to about 10 resorts

Yep. I can't miss that much snow. It is going to be too crazy this weekend to ride it looks like. 100 MPH winds, heavier snow, and a general shite show. Next week will be the tits though once the wind settles down and the snow gets lighter

I was looking up different flight combinations for late March for about 20 minutes today over some lunch if that gives you an idea of my interest.
And that dropbox link wouldn't work for the video, I tried several times.

Backcountry will be next year. Gonna grab the gear over the summer and get certified early next season. Already reading an avy safety book (and gonna reread a few times).
Day 77 today.

Any good bowl skiing at steamboat? It's on the radar for next year, didn't realize how cheap it was to fly into Yampa.
