Do any of you Christian mensas realize the inherent problem with trying to prove that God exists?

ETA: I am a Christian

I mean it is not that crazy of an idea

The stuff some physicists are trying to prove right now (now that technology won't actually allow them to yet) would absolutely blow your mind through your a-hole. It is even crazier than your mind actually being blown through your a-hole

I suspect the same way humans have morality.

Many mammals and pack animals have moral guidelines that let them live together in groups. Some have even been observed to show empathy to other members of their group, or more interesting, to members of another species.

I doubt most Christians really believe in God. If they did and actually had a personal relationship with him they'd give more than an hour or two a week to church etc.

Same people cream their pants at meeting sports stars but have personal relationship with the creator of the universe and can't be bothered to read his book.

So did the "Programmer" make humans smart enough to figure out they are in a simulated environment and not "reality"?

To me, this is a net positive. If a creator of some sort does indeed exist, I certainly hope it isn't the one described in the Bible.

Maybe people who claim to be religious are 'hedging their bets' by going to church, or something like church?

I think there is a difference between God and "we live in a world made by rules created by an intelligence". When you say God people think about it from a religious aspect. Heaven, hell.. the works, but that isn't really what an intelligence that created us is.

My religious beliefs are not in line with Christianity. I believe there is a high power, but as to what form or how it exist is what I don't know. I consider that different from whats in the bible.

I feel like the headline of that video does not match with the content of the video. Because he used "God" as a term in the video, religious people automatically take that to mean that their white bearded string puller is actually real

Personally, I interpreted the use of the term God as a metaphor.

science is and will always be about "best explanations", not definitive proof.

According to good, real science, there are mathematical probabilities that you could spontaneously phase through the Earth as an 8-foot tall Persian woman.

That isn't the point. The point is that this specific article has a title attached to it which doesn't follow the content of what was actually said in the article. It is click bait. It is obvious. You have to be purposely disingenuous to not see this. It's just a purposely controversial statement to generate buzz. It works.

Saying that you observe a certain order to the universe therefore it makes sense that it had to be intelligently created is not groundbreaking "science." Discussion of the incredibly theoretical fields of string theory and quantum mechanics is not comparable to the much more established fields such as you implied.

What in your post states that the quoted post "isn't the point"?

Are you saying that non-theoretical sciences are closed-minded? Science, all science, is about best explanations. . .not THE answer.

You can't give THE answer unless you created the subject material, control ALL variables, and the research/study is ENTIRELY new (with no reliance on previous study/research NOT done by you).

If science is not falsifiable, god dammit it isn't fricking science. I am sick of repeating this shite.

I just read 5 post on first page then jumped to here.

A good God thread can go for a long time.

Need a bit of a boost to keep it going?

We all are just riding around in our universe on an electron, in an atom, that's part of a sand grain, in the fish tank of some other beings universe. That's what I'm going with a sticking to it.

Unless I post in it...then it gets anchored, I get banned, and told by the owner of the board that he doesn't want religious threads.

So...with that in mind, you guys go about your business...

1. I think all the rules and regulations that go with religions are wrong. It's not hard to understand that the mind manipulation comes with the money and power and as you know money and power breeds corruption .

2.Looking at all the religions or most all and seeing what is common in all of them, then looking at the lowest common denominator which is intelligent design. This gave me my belief that their is a creator. My belief is that their are steps to take to get to a higher plain of consciousness. We have to learn lessons in this dimension before moving to the next. It's my belief that theses lessons learned are lessons about how each individual treats others and our environment around us including nature and other creatures because after all the creator has created all. Lastly, it's only my belief so I don't judge anybody else's belief. If I'm wrong then it's only my damnation I have to worry over.
