Informing, or educating. A by product of someone helping you educate yourself about your rights is that you may approach them for more help when your rights get stomped on. Brilliant, yet effective.

OP is versed in the company preying on the public and what they are supposed to do, as well as not supposed to do. Who better to help you when your Grand Am gets plucked while you are in getting ice cream?

Good luck to all.

When is some lawyer going to get it together and work up a Class Action on these guys?

I am well documented as despising Class Action's but I would set that aside to see Riverside beat up in court.

Do you think they are willing to do life for shooting someone in the back for cutting a tire?

The towing law requires a written contract between the property owner and towing company stating the rules for parking and the reasons for towing. I have never seen a Riverside Towing contract that, in my opinion, complies with the statute. If the contract does not comply, the tow is illegal.
so if you win one of these case's it can be said that every Riverside Tow is illegal.

When are idiot college kids going to stop parking in places they aren't supposed to?

Of all my years in college, which were more than normal, and all my friends, only one time someone was towed, and it was one of my idiot friends that left his truck parked where you needed a tag at an apartment and he did not have one. If you parked in a tagged spot at my apartment complex without a tag, i hope you got towed too.

Just b/c you're mad you had to pay to get your car back, had to deal withe the time and hassle in getting it back, and had to deal with the scum bags at the towing company, doesn't mean it wasn't your fault you got towed.

try getting towed from your own parking spot, at your apt, when you have a tag in the correct spot...... That is the shite people are pissed about with Riverside. Being parked legally, and getting towed.

Ohh Remember Riverside towing cars from the LSU area and staging them in the winn dixie parking lot so they could go back and get more and not waste time going and unloading at their lot? So basically they were committing Grand Theft Auto for a period of time.

First off:

quote:

Of all my years in college, which were more than normal

and the structure of this jumble of words which doesn't actually constitute a sentence:

quote:

Of all my years in college, which were more than normal, and all my friends, only one time someone was towed, and it was one of my idiot friends that left his truck parked where you needed a tag at an apartment and he did not have one. Tells me plenty about you but I will still explain even though I imagine the meaning will be lost.

Riverside Towing blatantly exceeds their authority and illegally (that means against the law) tows vehicles on a regular basis. They have done so for years and get away with it because the people they tow (generally students) don't have the resources to do anything beyond pay to get their car back. The target population of Riverside are ones who don't have the time or resources to fight back against the illegal conduct of Riverside Towing. My friend's vehicle was towed while she was parked in a public parking garage, for which she paid a fee, in downtown Baton Rouge. It seems that Riverside somehow got a contract to tow vehicles from the first floor only as that was "reserved" spaces for state workers. The issue was that the sign stating this was on one wall at the top of the ramp. You had to pass the spots to get to the sign. The conduct of their employees when picking up the car was beyond the pale. I filed a complaint with LSP who openly admitted they were aware of the conduct but that the statute gave them little to no power.

FWIW, the contract on the garage was pulled two weeks later when Riverside towed the vehicle of a State Senator who was downtown for the Symphony and parked in the same set of spots.

So, to answer your question, I feel more than justified to be "mad" at their actions and I do hope they are held accountable.

yea, they got "in trouble" for it. But really, doing that should have revoked their licence forever. I do believe they are in bed with someone super influential to not to have been shut down by now.

They usually do have a gun with them. I had a roid-head buddy way back when go into the lot to get his car, smoked one guy, and the lady opened up her top drawer and pulled a revolver out

They did this at the Circle K on Brightside for a while. I "stole" my truck back from them twice when it was sitting in the parking lot with a bunch of other towed cars
