These laws were originally put in place so that predominantly white schools wouldn't take away all of the funding. It was never meant to punish these schools. Its true intent was to make sure schools that were populated with minorities got proper funding as well.
It is pure racism. Plain and simple.

The frick are you talking about? I think it sucks and that it's a misapplication of a law that is being used to cut funds (that were technically extra funds meant to improve schools w/high minority populations that were likely pure shite when the law was passed) w/o the district taking the fault.

the school faces layoffs and increased class sizes due to a law limiting funds for schools with a higher white student body

How is this not considered discrimination? How can this possibly be legal?

No, it is not. "white schools" had been getting more than its far share of education funding for the better part of the of the existence of the DOE. While non white schools were barely being funded in some areas. But of course no one here will see the other side of the coin to get a better understanding of the situation. You'll be quick to point out how blacks are intellectually inferior, but will fail to even consider this as a reason why.

That is racism too. You are just so butt hurt about it that you don't see the exact thing done to whites as racism.

You have some racial revenge issues.

They were also counting "white hispanics".

No, I agree that it is a shitty situation that hurts the kids. They shouldn't have suffer from the games played by adults. My point wasn't to justify it, but to only make sense of why it happened in the first place. In this case the intent wasn't to hurt whites per say, but only to ensure that others schools got proper funding.

I recall you in a thread a while back black doctors saying that they are given a pass even though they have lower test scores. If I'm mistaken I do apologize.

Basing the choices off of racial status and purposely cutting funding to if there is too much of a specific race is racism no matter the intent.

I would need to see the quotes. There are awful people of all races who make into medicine who shouldn't.

"White" schools typically get more money because of a higher tax base, not because money was funneled to schools based on white supremacy (well partially, but...). Obviously this type of legislation should be tied more to student family income than student race.

Well with Jim Crow laws in the south and the overall mistreatment of blacks across America in the 60s, how could blacks have ever build up communities with higher tax bases?

I choose to believe that opposite.

I think that it should be tied to school size and not the demographic of any school. That would make it clear and fair across the board.

Anyone who lives in LAUSD and cares about their kids will do whatever they can to get them to a private school, a charter, or another district. They've lost hundreds of thousands of students in the last 20 years. Less immigration plays a big part in that as well.

But it's weird that their official policy is to promote racial balance. If a school is predominantly Hispanic (as nearly all of them are) it's harder to get an intradistrict transfer if the student is non-Hispanic because black, Asian, and white students leaving dilutes the diversity.

Why isn't funding not decided by number of kids in the school?

Well I feel that it had to be done because the choice to fund schools initially was based off race initially in alot of parts of the U.S. decades ago.

Like I said, if it wasn't you I do apologize. I'm not about to dig up quotes from a year ago.

Yeah. Then the white schools will have lots more than the other schools, because they tend to have much more active parents and get more donations. White parents tend to participate in the education of their children while too many of us see it as the job of the government to educate our kids. Jmo.
