Yeah, but it looks to change the process AFTER St. George has already moved significantly forward in the process of incorporation.

It'd be interesting court case.

Where is the representation for the people in the area that is planning to incorporate?

We really need the rural parish representatives to vote this crap down, but they knew what they were doing writing such strict wording into the bill.

This bill would get thrown out by the courts. Issue is that would cost St George a lot of time and money, which they may not have

Peterson just made the case for consolidated government being more efficient and responsive to the needs of the people.
When has that ever been true? It's the opposite of true.
And she was saying it with a smile like she was proud of how smart she was.

I really don't have a dog in the fight, I hope StG does separate though.

To me, it looks like the StG doesn't have the power to control EBR like they used to, so now they want to take their ball and go home.

“The residents should be able to decide what they want to do, but the answer isn’t to pick up your ball and run.”

Well, isn’t that for the residents to decide?

They talk about it being unconstitutional for them not to get to vote, but then wrote the bill so other parishes don't have to worry about this, what a screw job.

yeah her argument was that they should participate in the political process and voice their concerns

while she's arguing to change the laws midstream after they participated within the current legal framework

that alone should be one of the primary points against. if this policy is so important, why is it limited to EBR?

His point:
When StG takes their own tax dollars to benefit themselves, it'll hurt the people that aren't paying those taxes.
