Yep.

She's trying to say that all of the people in the parish will continue to pay for roads in the entire parish, cities and unincorporated. It's a "gotcha" that doesn't even exist.

I know deferring effectively kills it...still that should have been soundly defeated

Sausage being made, man.

They were able to make the bill moot without outright saying "no" and having a voting record their opponents could point at in the future.

Just enjoy the delicious sausage. Don't worry about what's in it.

Obviously, but that's not what this bill is about. And it does the proponents no good to get specific.

Which is really my problem with it all but that’s where we’re at these days..

Again I liked her argument that she was mostly introducing this bill because she has calls and emails from people living within the proposed area that are against it...Uhhh well

My point is that the people trying to stop this are obfuscating because they thought they were asking the impossible of the St George organizers.

Then SWB et all made it fricking happen.

It's not technically dead, but for it to come back up and be able to get to the governor's desk is practically impossible before the vote to incorporate takes place.

What actually happened is that 4 of 7 committee members forced committee discussion on the bill to be deferred until a later date. For the bill to come back up for discussion in front of the committee, 2/3 of the people voting to defer it must vote in favor of bringing it back in front of the committee. If that happens, it goes to the end of the list of business that is already on the schedule in front of the committee. To be able to go back to the Senate floor, the committee would then have to vote to send it back to the floor. The Senate would then debate and vote on it on the floor. After the Senate passed any version of that bill, it would then go to the floor of the House for debate and vote. Then, if two different versions of the bill passed in each chamber, a committee would have to come together to reconcile the differences between the two versions and send that version of the bill back to the floors for approval. Then it would go to the governor's desk and he'd have to sign it.

All of that would have to happen before the vote to incorporate takes place for it to affect the vote to incorporate.

Which is great until they try to get the state to get it declared null and void ex post facto.

They’ll lose but it will be a long and costly process.

SWB trying to say the last bill was simply about people voting. Should I, as a LP resident, be allowed to vote on this, too? I drive through the area. I buy shite in the area. It affects me.

And I hate her whispering. It ain't that dramatic.

Requires a 2/3 vote of the committee to bring it back up. That ain't gonna happen!

SWB says 28% of the MovEBR dollars go to St. George.

Now do tax revenues.

nothing in the legislature. It will all center around a lawsuit from attention whore Mary Olive Pierson if the vote is successful.
