If I was in the shower too long, Dad would yell "Switch hands and hurry up .. you're using up the hot water."

B was brutal

You know my momma's name?

You got to tell me how you know who I am...

And yeah she was brutal.

I don't remember this, but I heard this story a few times. Evidently I was messing with my sister's stereo and she saw me and went to slap me and I told her "you can't slap me because I have _____________" so she slapped me.. Told my momma what I said and then she slapped me and told me that didn't make me special.

She slapped me hard as hell, outside on a cold day, in front of my friends one day when she asked me or told me something and I gave a smartass answer. She wasn't scared to embarrass me..

"I'll give you a reason to cry" was a pretty popular one out of my dad

Another was when we were really young, and didnt like dinner. We would sit there for a long time. Dad had finished, gotten up, and came back 20 or so mins later to find us still there. He'd take off his belt, lay it over his chair at the table, pat it, and say "Daddy Jr. is watching yall now". Yeah we had 5-10 mins to scarf it all down. Ha. Memories...

"Waste not, want not" was a big one in my house. We never threw food away. Ever. If my mom or dad cooked, we ate it until it was gone. Didn't finish your dinner? Wrap it up for leftovers tomorrow. It definitely translated into my adulthood. The only time I ever throw food away is if it's sat in the fridge too long and beyond salvation. I'll cook red beans and rice and have it for dinner every night until it's gone before I toss any out.

Had an uncle that played college & pro football at WR. He always told me & my teammates "if you catch the ball, you're going to get hit. If you drop the ball, you're still going to get hit. So, catch the ball."
