He’s an amazing man who has spent his entire life working his arse off, yet never missed a single game of mine or my siblings and put us all through college without a penny of debt. I did not appreciate him as I should until I reached college and saw all of the fricked up families my friends came from and finally realized how great he had always been. He grew up dirt poor and now lives a life of luxury, all because of his incredible work ethic. Despite him being well-off now, he still works tirelessly because he knows no differently. He’s the best man I know and I wouldn’t trade him for the world.

Born poor in the middle of nowhere LA. Now retired and a millionaire. No college degree. Just a lifetime of honest, hard, committed, unceasing work. He provided a standard of living he never had as a child. He married one woman, stayed married to her, and raised two sons. Put me through 12 years of private school, 4 years of college, and 3 years of law school. He never swore, hit us, drank, yelled, or lost his temper. The man is a stoic in the model of Marcus Aurelius.

I do not have the same natural temperament as him. I tend towards intemperance and sloth. I learned how to be a man by watching and emulating him. I have no idea who I would be without his unfailing, consistent, unwavering, rock solid example. He is the model of a perfect father and an ideal man.

My dad worked a lot harder than I ever did. He had a difficult life . My father served in the Army and loved his country. Dad loved John Wayne movies. I miss my father.

I find that the older I get the more complicated and smarter he was.
He was in the first marine division on Guadalcanal and through the Pacific and on a
Troop transport for the invasion of Japan when the bombs dropped. Was a seargent in marines before WW II and mustered out a colonel. Returned to LSU and finished on the GI bill.
Was a sportswriter and later he went into PR in order to spend more time with his son, me. He was a flawed man with a good heart and I miss him
Probably one of the most articulate people I have ever met. Very intelligent and I would give anything to be able o have a chat with him now. Much of what I know and speak of above I found out after he passed.
And he took me to LSU games and made me a tiger fan for life.
If you have anything you want to know about your folks or grandparents then ask now. Make them talk.
There are so many questions I have that will never have answers. It bothers me that I never thought to ask and maybe been a better listener

Everyone that ever met my dad liked him. He was an amazing man. I’ve never met anyone who measured up to him

Tomorrow will be my second father’s day without him

He put my mom, who had MS, in a nursing home and married some psycho whore he worked with. The Marines brainwashed him too.

My dad taught me a trade and how to be a responsible citizen. He’s not only my dad but a close friend.

My dad is a chick magnet .. he has a constantly revolving door of women who are usually only a few years older than my wife... he seems to really be enjoying retirement.

He was a great man who loved his family. Even in his worst times he was an amazing father. And he loved LSU, I will miss my Saturday morning game day call next fall.

His world revolved around his grandkids. All he could think about was being able to play golf and fish with them as they got older. When we was in the hospital and we were alone in the room, he started crying and said that he was afraid to die because he wouldn't be able to be here with them. He passed a little over a year ago and he was only 59. I miss the hell out of him.

He died when I was in the 3rd grade and was not, by all testimony, a very good guy. But he gave me a decent liver and a sense of sarcasm.

I hope to see him again.

Nah my old man wouldn't do that to me. He did ask about one of her friends once that's about 6 years older than her

ETA - I hope he smashes all the young poon he wants. He was a great dad that practically raised 3 kids on his own. He's been single since the late 80s.
