How many conversations have you had with homeless people?
Several. Every single one has been about money. I offer only food and they basically get offended.

Maybe they just like to party

When it gets cold, a lot of them go to shelters or get arrested on purpose. They actually save up shelter days for shitty weather because they can only be there so long

And absolutely nothing to do with mental disorders and family who doesn't care to help you

My wife's best friend's fiance has told me several times that if it wasn't for his kid, he would prefer to be homeless. He doesn't like to work.

How ugly is this chick to have such low standards?

What time was that? I saw on the news last night that the "warming shelter" in Slidell was open only until 7am....which seemed a bit odd to me.

its pretty standard to close early in the AM, they don't want to run a daytime hang out spot

Since when are all homeless people suffering from mental illness?

being homeless is not a choice

It is where I live. There's a whole community of homeless people that refuse help and can't be made to a shelter in this weather.

why? why wouldn't you pity these people? it's not like these are frat boys living off their rich parents' dime and boozing it up every day. they are sick desperate people.

does that mean you give them money to alleviate your pity? no. but to say you don't pity someone because they are homeless and hooked on drugs and alcohol is pathetic.

It's pretty easy to tell which ones have mental handicaps and which ones are just druggies and/or lazy.

Many homeless have underlying psychiatric conditions that do not allow to function in normal society.

Yeah well the only thing wrong with the guy I'm talking about is he likes to smoke weed and sleep all day. He and his fiance stayed with us for a couple weeks once and he literally would wake and bake, eat then sleep for 18 hours. I stay friends with him because he knows all the homeless hippie City Park kids that have bomb arse LSD and DMT.

I'd hit it.

Exactly. Not sure why everyone pulled the mental illness card.

Most estimates I've seen range in the 25%-45% range.

If I was homeless I'd start walking towards south Florida where it's warmer. Live on the beach.

A large enough majority to be seriously considered before making rash generalizations, in my opinion.
