If the interest rate on the debt is lower than the return on investing that same amount then it makes sense to take the cheaper money.

This, along with potential tax benefits. There are lots of people who are financially savvy who have more than enough liquid funds to pay off the mortgage on their home(s) but do not as an example.

Yes it will.

Not at all, mostly conservative. I'm just not so biased to blindly support everything oil because libs put up a stink about the environment.

Open your mind.

I always find these sorts of responses curious, since they are either rooted in wishful thinking or willful ignorance. The issue is not if but merely when and defining it otherwise is simply incorrect.

You might be waiting awhile if you're waiting for cheap and accessible renewable energy.

By the way, carbon capture technology seems to be way outpacing anything that might be construed as renewable.

Unless the world somehow changes its mind on nuclear energy fossil fuel usage is inevitable for not just 1st world countries but the poorest and most remote countries as well.

Renewable energy nuts seem to always forget the poorest people.

Why is that? Probably would have been better to explain yourself in the same post you call an argument dumb.

The interesting stuff out of their releases is that Ghawar (the biggest conventional oil field ever found) is down to 3.8 mmbpd versus the estimates of 5 mmbpd by outsiders. That and the fact that when oil was near a $45 average in 2016 they Had net income of only 13 billion and 2 billion free cash flow. Suggests 45 is a floor for Saudi going forward and they will act accordingly to keep oil relatively higher than that.

You're saying the poorest and most isolated have a problem obtaining fossil fuels, currently, yes?

What? The exact opposite. Im saying fossil fuels are the best possible source of energy for the poorest individuals on earth. They're the cheapest and most accessible.

I don’t think people like you and the other guy realize what exactly is made from crude oil. I’ll give you a hint. Look around you. Probably 90% of everything around you came from crude oil.

No shite Sherlock. None of that changes the fact that oil is a finite resource. That is one of the logical reasons to not to use so much oil in a destructive manner since at least most oil-based polymers can be recycled.

There will come a point where we have no option but to move away from fossil fuels to other forms of energy production if we wait until we are squeezing the last few drops out it will cause all the other things we use oil for to skyrocket in price.

It doesn't matter how many products we use oil for at some point we will run out unless we quit consuming. The when depends on a huge number of factors, the if is not debatable.

didn't they commit to a pretty big Capex in the US this year?

Who is this nebulous "we". Oil is not gonna run out in my lifetime no matter how much we use of it. Doubtful it runs out in anyone's lifetime currently in existence. Your great great great grandkids, they may have a problem.
