for the first time on Monday. Aramco’s $111.1 billion profit in 2018 easily dwarfed all other businesses on the planet, a stunning result for a company that also paid the Saudi government $102 billion in taxes last year.
quote:
Aramco had revenue of $355.9 billion, according to the Moody's note, and $48.8 billion of cash on the books at the end of last year. That's far more than its debt of $27 billion. It was helped by a 31% increase average oil prices in 2018 compared to 2017.
quote:
Aramco planned to go public last year. It would have put 5% of the company up for sale in what might have been the largest initial public offering ever. The Saudis were reportedly looking to raise $100 billion in the offering, which would value the company at $2 trillion, or twice as much as Microsoft (MSFT), the most valuable public company with a market value of $904.8 billion.

This is why they can murder and dismember a journalist and everyone just kinda shrugs and let’s them get away with it.

I’m really surprised that they haven’t expanded much in the US yet. When the Motiva brand Split with the Shell partnership, I assumed that they would start buying US assets

I cant wait until the world largely transitions off of oil to some renewable form of electricity.
Take those fricks down a few notches.

Every country in the world has been doing this since Day 1. Oil ain't got nothing to do with it.

Then explain the existence of the Magnitsky Act versus the non existence of the Khassogi Act.
Oil very much has something to do with that difference in treatment

I’m going to show my financial ignorance here but how does a company with $355.9 Billion in revenue, $112 Billion in profit, and $48.8 Billion in cash have $29 Billion in debt? Why would they carry that? Why would they owe anyone anything?

If the interest rate on the debt is lower than the return on investing that same amount then it makes sense to take the cheaper money.
