So in other words it’s no longer a standardized test.

I imagine there is both a regular score and "adversity adjusted score" now reported.

It hasnt been for some time. People with means will pay a lot for prep courses that can drastically alter their scores if they had otherwise received no training.

The SAT was not meant to be studied. An entire industry has been created out of it.

They aren’t boosting the actual SAT score, just providing an additional score that can be viewed in addition to it. Of course, to play devil’s advocate, this makes it even easier for somebody like Elizabeth Warren to boost their “diversity”, since it seems like the score would be based on voluntarily submitted and unverified information.

According to the Journal, a score of 50 is considered "average." Anything above 50 proves "hardship" while anything below 50 is considered "privilege." The College Board did not immediately respond to a CBS News request for more information about the methodology behind its calculation of the adversity score and if other factors are considered.

The whole purpose of which is to act as something similar to a handicap score in golf. That's why the adversity score start at 50 and not on a 5 or 10 point scale.

The purpose for it is clear but some of y'all seem to want to debate semantics.

Right, but that’s been going on for decades, nothing new.

What's to stop me from lying on a lot of this? I'd just put that my parents made 18k and my dad was a HS dropout and an alcoholic.

I think the bulk of the data just comes from your zip code and the school you go to. Shitholes get bonus points.

So, yeah the Newman kid getting the crap beat out of him at home gets a low adversity score while the two parent relatively stable home East Jefferson kid racks up.

It's not exactly a perfect system.

So it’s only the reading and English sections that are biased.

Not sure how math and science are racist

Thank god my kids are past this shite so they don't have points deducted for their white privilege, which is surely the next step.

I’m sure that schools will end up being forced to accept a certain percentage of high diversity score, low SAT score applicants.

Yeah, the SAT score will be higher AND they will give higher diversity scorers a percentage of spots.
