I only tell poor kids that Santa isn't real.
I feel it gives a leg up on the rich kids with reality.
My own form of redistribution.

If you’re poor in Louisiana, you likely aren’t even working 40 hours

That's obvious, but why does... Whoever is behind this.. Feel the need to start a campaign about this? Do they think they will change people's minds?
Honestly, I sort of get it. You have kids who get toys and they believe some fat dude flying around is bringing it to them.. Then the poor kids don't get anything.. And they are like "why doesn't Santa come to me?". But that's life.

Rich kids and poor kids, who still believe in Santa, don't have near the interaction you think they do.

Also, a lot of poor kids do very well at Christmas. People are very generous with toy drives.

Santa is clearly republican.

But poor kids have more expensive shoes.

That’s because poor kids usually are bad so they get less

What I would like to know is why Santa has such a stranglehold on we the retail lemmings. I know we'll all laugh on Valentine's so we may as well all admit this has turned into a shitshowm too.

That is the key that prevents this from being a real issue for most. When this was discussed a week or so ago it was something I had never considered but the concept makes sense. It is one thing for children to be faced with the reality that some families have more than others but facing the illusion that some benevolent judger of goodness gives some more than others despite their relative "goodness" seem wrong. However, Santa age kids have very little contact with kids of families with significantly different economic means.

My problem with the whole deal is that these things teach children that the objects they have are important and tied to their self-worth.
Kids dont need to receive much to learn good character and do well in school. Why is it someone else's fault that a child's parents live life as materialists?
I was always taught it wasnt what you have, but what you do with what you DO have and to be thankful for things you have.
I guess parents dont teach appreciation anymore only envy and jealousy.

Should say “Santa gives more to kids with fathers in the home”.
