Do you know of anybody who has saved their home from flooding by sandbagging around it? Every storm that approaches has folks filling sandbags in a park in Baton Rouge near me.

sand bagging is like the boiling water during child birth thing. it's just something to keep you busy and keep your mind off of other stuff.

Sandbagging a doorway is a good way to keep water from blowing in under a door.

A barrier of sandbags with tarps all the way around a home with gas powered water pumps? Yeah I saw someone save two adjacent houses in 2016.

Edit: this guy had surveyors and a bobcat and a bunch of people helping in the days leading up to it, fwiw.

Idk. That’s actually what I do when the wind is blowing in the right direction.

It won’t completely prevent water from coming in but could reduce it. And we aren’t talking about building a wall of 1000 sandbags and stopping 2’ of water.

Doorways, drains, vents blocked along with a moisture barrier could definitely prevent water intrusion in some cases. Depending on the circumstances

I put sandbags in my car so I can drive it around in high water.

I figured everybody would be putting up bales of hay after the success one person had during Laura.

Saw a nice house down south that had a personal levee built completely around his house. Was about 3” tall. Had pumps and a pipe system as well. Built a big hump in his driveway. Apparently worked.

Sandbag your doors, so the water can come in your weep holes.

I helped a neighbor down the road with sandbags and it worked

We put up enough to keep out a foot of water max. Their estimate was that they saved themselves from about 4 inches of water getting into their house.

It depends on the Amount of water expected though.

Sandbagging can work if you encircle your ENTIRE house in sandbags a couple stacks high and you have a pump to pump out water that seeps through.

Sandbags will help some against wind driven rain or wakes created by vehicles... but they won't do shite against a storm surge unless it's a full ring.
