My insurance waves the deductible for repair, but I would have to come out of pocket to replace

There's a big price difference in repairing and replacing. Think he means they'll pay to repair but not to replace.

That damage is not repairable! That’s a replacement. As far as repairs go, I have no complaints with Safelite. Can’t speak to how they perform with their replacement work.

Safelight is fine. I’ve used them twice in the last 6 months on my truck and once on my daughters rear windshield several months ago as well as a few other times in the last few years. We won’t use anyone else. If your insurance doesn’t cover it and cover it with OEM than you have the wrong insurance. Mine covers complete replacement no deductible.
If it is a windshield that has to be calibrated you will have to bring it in. If not they will come to wherever you like. Schedule an appointment and they are good about getting in and out. That Yukon probably needs calibration if replaced and I’m guessing it needs replacement.

I requested OEM glass when I used them last. Was for a Lexus with radar. They got it for me
Same for my Jeep, replaced it with OEM.

So I work for a glass company in Mississippi. Chances are that won’t run because it’s cracking back to itself. But I would still try to get it filled before replacing. It will probably look a little better but you will definitely still see it.
As far as calibration goes, that’s only when you have lane changing sensors. Basically the steering wheel or seat vibrates if you start to get over without the signal lights on. Most of the time that has to be done at a dealership although some places do carry the equipment to do in shop. Idk of all Safelite’s do or not as the equipment is super expensive.
As far as Safelite as a company, they are a national chain all corporate owned. Some are good some are not. I’m not too much in the automotive side of things anymore but I know they charge a lot on repairs if you aren’t paying insurance which I believe is just a tactic to push people toward replacing windshields.

I will say Safelite id one of the better glass companies I've dealt with..
I managed to bust the back hatch glass on my suburban while mowing one after noon...yeah I'm an idiot. Called satellite they were the cheapest by 500 bucks, come to find out they misquoted it. They did it anyway and ate what should have been a really expensive job.

they do good work, just be prepared for your mirror to fall of the windshield during hot summer days. the glue they use isn't the best. but they will put it back on for you.

I'd rather use a local shop. Nice RBR flag!

I've never seen a golfball window hole. That's really strange looking.
The windsheild on that will probably be $600+ but your insurance should cover most of it.

The only time I tried to use Safelite they did a bait and switch. Got an estimate from them online for about $300. Set up an appointment for the next day. The confirmation email on the morning of the appointment had a $475 price tag. I cancelled the replacement.

They are legit, but do lousy work (At least they did lousy work on our company vehicles). Ruined headliners multiple times by smearing black sealant on them.
Safelite paid to replace the headliners, but at some point it was just too much trouble having vehicles out of service for several days while the work was done. Our company now uses an independent dude who shows up and does the work in 45 minutes in company parking lot.

They use very thin glass for their replacements. I wouldn’t use them unless you have too. Don’t think they are safety certified
Which rival windshield repair company do you work at?

Used them once and had no issue...

Safelite is legit but expensive. There are plenty of other companies that will replace for cheaper.
They ain't repairing that!
