My wife’s Yukon xl was hit by an errant golf ball in the driveway. Luckily it hit glass instead the body. Safelite is coming out to repair it tomorrow. My insurance waves the deductible for repair, but I would have to come out of pocket to replace, figure I will see how it looks and can always replace later.

Safelite is legit. I’ve used them a couple times and have been satisfied.

Not an expert but I'm pretty sure that "repair" = "replace" in this case.

Their legit. I used them a month ago for a windshield and they were absolutely professional about getting it done right

Depends on insurance?

My policy had some rider for auto glass when somebody broke in. Bill was like 350 for a side window and they cleaned it all up and cost me nothing. Service was good but it was not as fast as they implied in the commercial. Took a few days for the glass to get shipped and they were out of the plastic coverings at the time (was in an area of snow and freezing arse cold at the time) but overall the experience as good. They did not come to me, I had to go to their shop.

I dont know what insurance you have but when I used mine to get a new windshield, it was 50 bucks out of pocket. They did an excellent job as well, hell they cleaned the inside of my truck for me as well

They use very thin glass for their replacements. I wouldn’t use them unless you have too. Don’t think they are safety certified

Safe windshields

I requested OEM glass when I used them last. Was for a Lexus with radar. They got it for me.

I am quite unfortunately an expert on this. Replaced three windshields on my last lease car. That damage is WELL beyond repairable. Not to mention that Safelite twice turned a star into a crack and caused me to get total replacement. I won’t use them again.

All 3 at the same time or 3 different incidents?

Is it a chain or a franchise? Just wondered if it was a franchise and it differs from place to place?

The glass Safelite uses is junk; it pits and chips more easily and often has optical inconsistencies. This sets up a viscous cycle of needing new glass more frequently. They are crap. I had them replace one windshield and they didn't seal it right. You could hear the wind coming in when on the highway and water would drop in too during rains. They said nothing was wrong with the install.
Like I said, don’t use them unless you have too!
If insurance tells you they won’t pay for OEM glass but will pay for OEE, that’s not true.
The truth is you can get the OEM windshield installed, but you will be responsible for the price difference.

viscous cycle

On a scale of motor oil to molasses, just how viscous a cycle are we talking here?
