If they are so concerned about global warming they need to go ahead and break it off now. It will cause another mini ice age and we can roast marshmallows a lot more.

Ok. A glacier the size of Florida is enough to raise sea levels 2 feet?

Considering water makes up almost 75% of the surface of earth, I'd like to see the math on this.

I got curious enough about this supposed possible maybe disaster (which I hear about every few years) and found a sea rise modeler online to see what would happen. Not much happens at 2 feet - the marshy places and beaches go. You have to get to 4-5 feet to see any real change even here. And by real change I mean getting rid of Houma.
Not that any of this is likely to happen before 2100 minimum, if it happens at all.
But her,e have fun with it LINK

I think the problem is if it's ice that is currently sitting on landmass. If it breaks away and falls into the ocean it would be like adding an ice cube to an already full glass of water.

That said, I highly doubt the 2 feet claim.

You mean he lied when he said he would heal the seas?

Some things never changes.

Either way, the processes underway that are leading to this problem are not related to a long-term, permanent warming of the earth. Earth breathes in and breathes out. It’ll cool off again one day to negate what’s happening now. That’s science and I believe in science.

I’m no glacier expert myself, but isnt most of the volume of a glacier already underwater? Thus, if it were to disband and melt, only the part above water would add to the rising sea level…

I don't know, but if this is as accurate as everything else, it's close to breaking and causing doomsday because of too much ice, and the narrative is a total lie.

The only way to stop it is to pay more for everything and send more money to the government... And bomb more brown people.

You don’t understand. Those places won’t be impacted by this. Only poor island nations and BIPOC neighborhoods in America will require your tax dollars to save them.

They fear the sheets could shatter in the next three to five years, which would pose the biggest threat for sea-level rise this century. The glacier itself holds enough water to raise sea levels by over 2 feet. The level jumps by 10 feet if it takes the surrounding glaciers with it.

So would you say that this was a bad investment by former Pres Obama?

You are not accounting for the ice above the current water level.

Tidewater glaciers can extend further into the sea than they are on land, like Glacier Bay prior to the 1800s. When they go into retreat, it can be catastrophic.
