Over 4,000 vehicles full of Houstonians showed up at NRG Park Saturday afternoon where 90,000 pounds of food were distributed by Houston ISD with the Houston Food Bank. It was a sight I would not have imagined just one month ago.

I thought only the full time working, salary intact medical professionals were getting free meals.

Impressive they got that many Houstonians to follow directions while behind the wheel of a car.

Lot of sun roofs and nice looking cars in line.
How many actually need that?

Same shite here in LA.
They give out food in Jefferson Parish at the Alario center and I knew 3 people in line who literally said they were using it as an excuse to get out of the house. They just sat in their car for 3-5 hours on their iPads and treated it like a grownup field trip.
If you give out free stuff people will show up whether they need it or not.

Without the recent stimulus check, a huge number of Americans are no more than a week away from looting.
Houston is home to tens of thousands of them.
A significant percentage of those are originally from the Boot.
You’re welcomed Texas!

Let me first say I have no idea what any of this is about, so correct me if I am wrong.
I don't think you should be judging needy people off their vehicles right now.
Several people have suddenly lost their jobs, no?
They may have been doing okay prior to all this, but could very well be struggling ATM. I have no idea what this food bank is about, so again forgive any ignorance on my part.
I just don't think people should be so quick to judge right now.
You also never know who is picking up what for someone else in need..
Have a good day, Sir.

as of 2016, 80% of households within Houston ISD qualified as low income families, thus entitled to free meals at school.
that should tell you quite a lot.

I’m more thankful than ever for food, medication, toilet paper etc. I have no material worries at this time.
And for that I am grateful and blessed.

So this has more to do with a lot of people already being poor and not because Covid has everyone starving.
