Alcohol is only part of the problem. Society as a whole has decayed and bad behavior is just looking for an outlet and an excuse.
Many years ago, pre-9/11, I was in the cockpit flying from MIA to MSY on a 8am flight when half way across the Gulf of Mexico the FA burst in all frazzled (they had unfettered access back then) and declared “we’re out of vodka, we’re out of bourbon, we’re out of rum, we’re out of gin. They even drank all of the brandy!” lol. Not one report of bad behavior. Just passengers having a good time and starting their NOLA vacation early.

I’ve done many early morning departures out of Manchester, England - as blue collar as they come! - where we’ve run out of beer 3 hours into the flight and never had a problem with disruptive passengers.

Yep, came to post this.

People have always drank on planes and at airports. What we have today is people who arent civilized, people who dont travel much at all and people who are uber entitled.

Its an epidemic. I deal with it in my job too. Same retards.

I have never seen a more unhinged group of people than Brits going on "holiday" to Greek or Spanish islands. It reminds me of Reggies the first two weeks of school. The groups flying Ryanair to those places would be on spirit here going to Miami.

He said this will only apply to their pilots. Passengers may continue to drink as much as they want.

Wait.

1)how would this solve anything with unruly passengers?
2) are you telling me there isn’t a 0 drink minimum with the pilots????

I have always said that airports and Mardi Gras are the two places where you can down a beer at 9am with zero judgment from others.

for every disorderly passenger from being drunk, there’s probably 10 passengers that are relaxed

in fairness to the Ryan air guy, that ratio likely goes up to 1 in 50 without

Ryan Air has always had a "You chose us because you're either cheap or you're poor. If you don't like it, go pay more to fly with a real airline" attitude towards their customers. At one point, there were discussions about charging people to use the bathroom until they came to their senses and realized that these animals would probably just piss themselves in their seats. They will still junk fee the hell out of you for any changes or luggage beyond a certain weight. Always people opening their suitcases and putting on several layers of clothing at their ticket counters.

Airport bars are the best place to get hammered. You don’t have to drink and drive afterwards. You just get on the plane and enjoy your ride to your destination.
