Great; more phases.

Its not like they just made up testing phases this year.

They are in place for a reason. The good thing about Phase 3, being a huge expansion in human testing, is that it CAN be approved for compassionate use at a certain point on a large scale.

Wide scale distribution isn't that far behind Phase 3, if it is successful.

Idealist me doesnt give a frick if it works or not as long as it squashes the hysteria.

Realist me knows it wont do shite, I'll be forced to get it by my employer, and the panic will come roaring back with vengeance

The West won't have a vaccine ready until early 2021? Disappointing.

That's the date being given out to calm the masses and keep lockdown compliance high. It's moved from Fall 2020 to "early" 2021 without much news coverage. It'll get pushed back again.

It's a coronavirus. There probably isnt ever going to be an effective vaccine.

Well, so they beat us on Sputnik and on the vaccine, but we got them on the land on the moon contest.

Let’s just focus on Mars and take the glory back.

Vaccines take a decade or longer to develop and test properly. No chance in hell I take a vaccine made in a few months.

I was fully expecting North Korea to come out as the first to develop a vaccine.

with a 100% efficacy rate and absolutely zero side effects.

We've had "in theory" vaccines for SARS for many years. The problem is that SARS basically went away and there's just not enough people to effectively test for a vaccine that have it and there's no demand.

But they have "thought" they had the workings of an effective vaccine for it for a long time. COVID-19 is closely related to SARS.

The likelihood we will have a vaccine is pretty high.
