I was in Singapore on business about 10 years ago and everyone said they were surprised at how thin I was. They thought pretty much all Americans were fat. I told them it’s not as common as they think and most people look like me.

shite, nowadays every time I’m in public I can’t help but notice how fat people are. And I’m not talking slightly overweight/carries it well types. I mean disgusting sloppy fat. Now I feel like I lied to those Singaporeans.

Honest question, is weighing to much unhealthy even if the additional weight is muscle?

It can be. After I left the service I dropped the "extra" weight. It wasn't unhealthy then in my opinion. I was expected to be able to haul my full kit plus a wounded fighter on me across rough terrain. I figured being bulkier was a good answer.

My son who is currently SF is lanky (6-2 & maybe 170) and he worries about the wear and tear and his ability if he is ever in a situation where he has to do a battle carry.

Even so many kids now days are chubby. It’s kind of sad to see a kid that is like 8 years old and already obese

But they would still fit in a standard casket. The same cannot be said of current Sports Illustrated swimsuit “models”.

Children get less exercise per day than death row inmates.

You know, I’m not the healthiest eater, but what I don’t do is eat massive, gluttony like portions. I can never finish meals out at restaurants. I’m 6’0, 181. Just went to the doctor. I haven’t been to the gym in 6 years because of horrible problems with my lower back pain from failed surgery to remove a tumor, two bulging discs, and advanced spinal stenosis. I’m 36. Today was my first day back to the gym. Will probably add 10 pounds of muscle. It’s not hard. People just eat massive portions of shite all the time.

Honestly, you really have to create a mindset that food is just sustenance. Don’t eat for pleasure. Pretend you are a caveman eating in their era. I should note that I fast in the mornings and eat whatever I want for the other 2 meals. Don’t snack

I was wondering when there was going to be another thread about overweight people. Guess I’m different and less judgmental than 99.9% of the posters of the OT because I don’t dislike overweight people, don’t judge them nor do I feel the need to constantly fat shame like the majority of posters. I guess I’m too busy trying to take care of myself than worrying about someone else’s lifestyle and eating habits.

It’s costing Americans trillions. And it’s an embarrassing look for America

What often goes unsaid is the BMI way of determining obesity leaves a lot to be desired. By their measurements I was borderline obese when I was in the military. I have high single digits body fat % at the time. I was by my height (6-2) borderline obese at 245 but it was over 90% muscle

I’ve had the same issue in the past from lifting weights hard. These are true exceptions though

At 22 years of age, your lack of exercise probably don't bother you as much as it will when you actually grow up.

Fat people usually post anti fat threads as a virtue signal to other fat people.
