HS and college as well.

They'd fix breakfast sometimes, esp the older ones.

Billy Gibbons used to come into the club all the time ,, 84,85 it was a week night and he was upstairs and the VIP section all alone I was in the DJ booth along with Earl the other DJ
Billy comes and asks for a pen and paper Give it to him months later he comes back into the club and gives us the ZZ Top key chains with a diamond and thanks us for the pen and paper and tells us that he had been inspired to write a couple of songs while he was sitting in the club

That became the Eliminator album. Now I know you don't believe me probably nobody here does ,, doesn't change the facts

interesting thing is years later 2001. In Cleveland on a flight back from DC to Houston Im in the area waiting on the other fight to IAH
talking to a guy and he tells me that he is ZZ Top's manager and I tell him that story he smiles stands up has me go with him to the VIP Club in the airport and has me tell that story to Billy and they laughed because that's how they he was inspired for the Eliminator album and they had never told that story,

But by all means tell me about the Radio Shack you MC'd the grand opening for and a hooters waitress gave u a handy in the parking lot

Running red lights

It’s out of control in Houston, I see it multiple times per day. 4-way stop signs too.

Do the right thing. Even when no one is watching.

The 'right' thing is to do no harm.

I have treated isolated stop lights like 4-way stops at times.

The objective of the traffic lights is to control the flow of traffic in the most efficient way with most attention to safety of transit.

If there is zero safety concern, and there is no traffic, then the light serves zero purpose and common sense should prevail. A full stop and due diligence in observing the surroundings is all that could be expected of a free citizen.

Not a residential area, but back in the 90's my GF had to arrive at Miami's WIOD ("Wonderful Isle Of Dreams") at something like 3:30am to prep for her morning news shift.

Miami cops told her if she wasn't (carefully) running the red lights on Biscayne Blvd, they would stop her and ask what was wrong.

I obey God. And His word says to obey the laws of the land unless they are immoral or unethical. If I’m obedient in the small things, I can then learn to handle the large things.

If you obey lights when there's no traffic, you are brainwashed and conditioned to obey the government just because, and for that you are in the wrong.

This is a little over the top, but I feel the same way about speed limits. Why does everyone accept that the posted speed limit is the highest speed we should be allowed to drive at all times? The safe speed is what keeps you up with the flow of traffic. Sometimes it's lower than the limit, other times it's higher. Traffic cops should be on the lookout for people operating vehicles recklessly, not minding their business going 68 in a 60.

I don’t need a timer to tell me what to do, if there are no cars within a quarter mile at a country light, I’m going. It feels preposterous to sit there.

A town west of us had their traffic light go down and they put up temporary stop signs, the traffic flowed so much better that they did away with the lights altogether.

If you have drivers that understand how to do it right, this is very true. Month or so back had a flashing red light on my commute two days in row. The first day I rolled up to the back of the line and was like "damn this is gonna suck". The 2nd day I was kind of like "I'll take it".

Government lightbulbs that are improperly programmed such that they steal the time away from obedient citizens under the penalty of financial theft enforced by armed agents if citizens disobey the lightbulbs - I call that an immoral and unethical legal situation. It's a small thing that conditions the populace to accept immoral and unethical big things, like covid shutdowns and forced vaccinations to use an example from recent history.

When I picture a 4 way in a residential area I picture a neighborhood with a stop sign, seems pretty rare to a have a light in such an area

Anyways, if it's a light I'm stopping

A sign? Prolly around 50/50 on stopping

Why would anyone run a red light?

Because half the signals are useless and should come down.

I don’t but I will always remember going to a late night movie with my buddy at the theater near the mall in Baton Rouge like 15 years ago and we were at a light that was red forever, even though we were the only people on the road. He said screw this and he took a right and then another right. instead of just plowing right through it.

No other cars on the road, I'm treating it like a four way stop sign and proceeding on my way after a five count.

We really need to find a way to implement AI for more efficient traffic signaling for sure.

I've been saying this a long time. Considering how far the self driving stuff has come, traffic lights are child's play. They only need to know this one area.

So many times, I see a green light ahead that has my cross traffic stopped, even though no other cars are on my road, and I'm still far back. Then, it turns red just as I approach. So they waited, I waited - for nothing.

Safety wise, it could give priority to the left hand turns. So many times the green arrow is short, traffic backs up in that turn lane, people push through the yellow-'orange'-red light. It should do what a good traffic cop would do.

Safety would be better, traffic would flow better, plus some fuel savings. Why haven't we seen even a few trials on this?

You need to seek professional advice. You obviously have a hard on for my posts. Is posting on this site your entire life? It’s pretty sad, actually. You really need to get a life. I feel sorry for you

People don't GAF about traffic lights anymore.

One of the worst that I see everyday is the last light on 190 south before getting to the causeway in Mandeville.

It is probably once every 2 weeks that someone does NOT run that light at least several seconds after it changes. Of course there are almost never cops there watching.
