Didn't know but 18 wheelers use this when they lose their brakes.

Idk I thought you just pull over on the side of the road or you crash into 20 cars final destination style until your momentum stops

Think there was a trucker charged with homicide who failed to use one coming down a Colorado mountain and killed another motorist.

Admittedly a pun is the lowest form of humor; unless you’re the one who made it.

So they roll up the hill to stop there momentum. What happens once they come to a stop? Wouldn’t they start rolling backwards because they have no brakes?

I saw a truck take one of the Monteagle, TN ramps before. My buddy was driving and we saw the rig start smoking from the brakes. We hung back about a quarter mile and kept an eye on it. This idiot in a Honda Accord came flying by us and got near him. He tried do go around about the time the driver decided to take it towards the ramp. That Honda went with him on the ramp but managed not to get hit by the truck. It was quite the show and a little hairy for a second.

The Honda didn't make it far at all, mainly just on the entrance to the ramp. Could have been a whole lot worse.

They send a heavy duty tow truck up on a gravel side road to get it.

The ramps are deep sand and fine gravel that kills the momentum and buries the tires.

Well yeah and they work very well.

Also don’t be a dickhead/ future dead tourist and pull over into that entrance to take pictures or piss or whatever.

Stay the frick out of that entrance.

The tractor and trailer are mired in like a foot of loose gravel. They ain’t rolling anywhere.

Everyone out West has seen those ramps in summer and winter.
