Did the CEO and board of directors take pay cuts to help prevent laying off people? Didn't think so.

actually the opposite will probably happen, there's no need for green energy when oil is cheap
At a consumer level, sure. I say that thinking of revenue for the big oil companies. If oil remains cheap, the big oil companies will continue collapsing. They will need to branch out other ways to continue making money, or just downsize, downsize, downsize.

Retail spending is down nationwide....so people must be pissing away their fuel savings on power ball tickets and skyrocketing costs of health insurance.

they'll downsize and maintain and position themselves for when it turns around, some will get bought by bigger ones....this isn't their first downturn

CEO's have it rough anyways. They are fungible.

You're right, you don't know much about Obamacare.

It is the largest in quite some time, if not ever, though. I could be getting ahead of myself on the topic. I will freely admit that I don't know shite about the O&G industry, but I do believe that we, as a species, have an unhealthy dependency on a finite resource and need to branch out to more renewable energies, even if you take climate change out of the equation. Anything that can potentially push us towards that excites me.
There are some pretty exciting technologies on the horizon. So far none can outright replace fossil fuels altogether, but if we utilize several sources (solar, geothermal, water, etc) we can do a lot to lower our dependency on O&G, create jobs in the 'green energy' sector, and eventually not rely on something that will eventually run out.

While true when 100% of your patients are reimbursing you at medicaid rates instead of their "cadillac" plan rates the medical field will not be exempt.
Anyone in the gulf south that thinks any industry will be exempt is whistling past the graveyard.

Eh, in New Orleans your case mix is heavily leaning Medicare/Medicaid anyway.

purchase prices are closer to $150/sqf
Where are you seeing this in New Orleans?
This is in the (very general) University area. My example was a little simplistic, and was focused to that exact property type (MF that needs updates). I know that the price can be much higher than that, but again, was just trying to point out the divergence between rent prices and sale prices compared to other parts of the state.

Shell CEO make $25M a year.
This what happens when you put money over people.
So no bitching when you get laid off.
I'm sure he could feed his kids on $10M a year and keep a lot of family's happy until gas prices came back up.
Sorry motherfrickers.

The pharm heyday 10 or 15 years ago of smokeshows fresh out of college doing everything on the company dime (including physicians) was 1000x more offensive than an oilfield baw busting his arse for a check.
