Rumor Killer? LA chemical plants/refineries issued some kind of ‘lock down’ order?

Heard something second hand a moment ago about an order that was just communicated to the plants. Anybody know what this is about? Just limiting traffic or something bigger? TIA

I know some plants have locked essential personnel in, some plants have done different scheduling to try to limit the possibilities. Not sure how true it is but i heard Dow Plaquemine was talking about putting man camps in the facility to lock people in which being that thats where someone tested positive seems like a dumb idea to me
We are limiting traffic in areas of our plant like control rooms, labs, exc. I was at core yesterday due to a work injury and they had a test site setup outside for the coronavirus and there was one person after another getting tested. If those test come back positive id expect whatever plant or jobsite they were working at to make some serious decisions.
Man around the clock pay with most plant personnel getting paid double time on lockdown situations that some serious cheddar bawwws.. If only they would wave federal income tax at that time

I think plans are being made for lockdowns should a mandatory shelter in place be issued.

Same here. What I heard a moment ago was about some kind of new order that just came down. Nothing mentioned in the news or the teleconference yet. Maybe John Bel will discuss it this afternoon.

I know someone whose plant will go into "Island Mode" should an employee test positive. They have already locked out contractors and non-essentials.
Island Mode is a team of essential personel who will run the operations for up to 8 weeks and will stay on the property the entire duration.

Some places (maybe all, but I know for sure some places) sent their contractors home. Some did it earlier this week some as late as yesterday.
But if you work FOR the plant, they are monitoring their employees by checking their fever and what not.

what about the salaried employees? What sort of compensation would they receive should they be "sheltered in place" for weeks...

We are not doing mandatory lock in. Essential personnel only. Operations and maintenance in 2 different locations. Control room on lockdown limited to 6 people. Talking about going 2 weeks on 2 weeks off to limit shift change to 1 person each relief.

We've been limiting traffic into plants, control rooms, etc. Limiting entry to new personnel, no new cap projects are starting until this blows over. We've been reducing workforce on main and cap sides all week. Only jobs deemed necessary or with hard deadlines are continuing. But based on the last conference call we just had, I'd bet me left not its going to operations only within a week. The whole OSHA recordable looms large over our heads.

Lol other than actual newsletter or email correspondence by the Plant/facility, there are no credible sources.

Dow/BASF shutting it down to essentials only.

I would imagine something would be put in place for them but that is why i would never take a salary job unless it was for a hell of a lot of money a year.

All are still kicking here in LC/Sulphur area... I know Marathon GBR still has a massive turnaround at the end of the month that is still scheduled as a go.... talking thousands of contractors...

Anyone who lived in this city/ southern La through Katrina and the soon after knows this is not a good idea at all.
Closing all the businesses in conjunction with sending all of the youth home =looting, property damage, and vandalism.
People seriously need to consider the ramifications of this and the necessary government military presence it’s going to require.
Nothing in me wants this at all. We have enough restrictions in place:
Mandatory military/nat guard enforced shelter in place is unamerican massive government overreach and legitimately terrifying to me.

In no way am I advocating for it. But I do know that it has been mentioned by JBE, and was just making the comment to the OP that this "announcement" is probably all plant managers having a contingency plan in place should it happen.
