A lot of insurance companies aren’t your friends . They are there to get money from you and try to deny you when you really need help. I don’t know anything about roofing but the insurance guy kept criticizing yet refused to explain how he would fix it. Let the expert do his job.

Imagine shilling for roofers whom are one of several primary reasons for insane insurance premiums.

Imagine shilling for an insurance company whom sends an unqualified inspector to determine the amount of money your biggest investment (for most people) is fine when actual experts say it's not. Imagine a $100k repair that an incompetent adjuster says is only worth $25k.

Clearly roofers in this video know what they are doing. State Farm guy… not so much at all.

State Farm has in house adjusters... they essentially pay these folks not to find damage.

Find insurance companies with independent adjusters.

We had our roof replaced last year through an insurance claim. The owners of the roofing company used to be insurance adjusters and they said hands down the two worst are Allstate and State Farm when I asked them. They almost always denied claims. They said it's much easier to work with the small/med sized insurance companies since they want to keep you as a customer.

State Farm

tried to give a life long customer $450 to fix a roof that obviously needed replacing.

after a over month of arguing and multiple trips by the roofing company to show them the damage, they finally agreed to replace the roof.

I'd heard horror stories about State Farm, but AllState was playing hard ball too. We had to have 2 extra inspectors come out before they agreed to replace our roof.

The trend for many carriers now seems to be sending a structural engineer right behind the field adjuster to ultimately screw you over. Pay close attention to this bought and paid for "engineer," more times than not it's a paper pusher guy that shows up in $200 dress shoes with no intention of really getting his hands dirty, getting on the roof, using a moisture meter etc. He's there only a predetermined outcome mission to deny or severally throttle back your recoverable amount as the deck is stacked against you when these dipshites come out to your property.

Sounded like they said it was 12 years old, they should just prorate and we pay 40% if the claim, assuming typical 20 year life for a shingle roof.

That’s funny.

The roofer was smart to video it, didn’t have to even try hard to make the inspector look stupid

was installed in 2006 and this happened this year. so more like 16 years old.

they made the roofer go back and actually video the inspection. Then they finally agreed.

after the first 2 inspections state farm said the roofer was bending the shingles too far and causing them to break.

State Farm and Allstate are horrible. Best company by far that I’ve seen is Shelter. Progressive treated me pretty well too after Laura.

Not defending insurance people. They’re a royal pain in the arse. But a lot of roofers aren’t your friends either. They have been scamming people all over my state and a big reason why premiums have gone up and people getting dropped. frick them both.

yeah, nobody is doing this stuff for the fun of it.

funny thing is the state farm guy told me "the roofing company is just trying to get money". I said well, "isn't that what insurance companies do?"

ole baw got pissed said something like "that's your opinion".

Judging by the first minute or 2... those granules on those old arse 3 tabs are already quitting and letting go, entirely unrelated to wind damage. Am I saying there's no wind damage, absolutely not. I'm saying that roof is on its last leg regardless.

Regardless of which side you choose in that video, it's funny to see the insurance dude tell him he's doing it wrong, but then say "I'm not a roofer, and I'm not trying to tell you how to do it" when asked the proper way to do it.

Can confirm. Just went through a claim for hail damage to our roof with Allstate. The 1st adjuster says we had damage on the front and sides but not the back. So they just wanted to do a repair and not a full replacement.

There was clear damage on the back as well. I sent pics and begged them for 2 months to send a 2nd adjuster but the claims rep kept telling me it wasn’t warranted. Finally I copied my agent on my emails to the adjuster and he talked them into sending out a 2nd adjuster.

Guess what? There was damage on the back as well and they had to pay for full replacement.

What sucks is that the insurance company itself is leveraging the agent’s relationships and reputation to close and maintain a contract they have every intention of trying to get out of if called upon.

I did it for years and could be a very rich and miserable person today had I stuck with it.
