How did he get the pilot’s keys?
Ha, does a commercial airliner like that have 'keys'?
I've been on plenty of flights before where the plane was on but the pilots weren't around. Changeover of pilots or whatever, I'd assume this is what happened here. I'd bet this airline is pretty routine, as its all local flights basically. Ground crew probably even gets to learn the pilots behaviors and routines. I wouldn't doubt the pilots have a 30 minute window and step out to smoke a cig or stretch their legs and the ground crew know it. This guy knows it's the Thursday 7pm flight to Portland and the cockpit will be open for 10 mins, and takes advantage.

F15s were from Portland on local news

And the media feed on it, and add to these issues.
And mental health is not taken serious enough by this country, and because of it, people end up dying. It's a huge thing we must address

Apparently its down - either shot down or crashed?

He only crashed because he wanted to , had to have had some experience flying, the barrel roll and turns, managing to keep it out of the water was all too smooth to be just luck.
He was an A&P mechanic with the airline, so he was familiar with the instrumentation of the aircraft. He did not have to have flying experience to do what he did. As an A&P, with novice pilot experience I know this for a fact. This guy was was suicidal and pulled off the stunts using extreme maneuvering with reckless abandon. Not unlike a kid driving a car for the first time, and pushing it to its limits.

theres alot of issues, and keeping up with the joneses is one of them.
hell of a story tho, flying a plane must be a badass feeling.

no they do not have keys
Fun fact...
All of the nuclear reactors on US Submarines have keys.

This story is slightly amusing, and I'm glad he got that barrel roll in, but dude is a jackass for endangering others.
The "lessons learned" from this incident will be an interesting read.

Home many people have done a barrel roll on a plane that size? Honest question? Not saying it's necessarily difficult but simply few have the means. im assuming that's not something military guys ins C130 or bigger would ever do right?

Yep. Scrambling those two F-15s costed tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars in jet fuel and man hours also.
Worth every penny.

He was not a mechanic, I've learned. He obviously knew the basic flight controls, which is not unheard of for ground personnel to know. He may have been an aviation buff and new how to operate the plane based on flight simulators and simply watching mechanics and crew operate the aircraft at some capacity.
When I worked in the airline industry, ramp workers where often allowed in the cockpit with mechanics, brake-riding the aircraft from a parked position to a gate, or vice versa. You learn things.
If you're a suicidal non-pilot at the controls, any maneuver within the performance envelope, and even a little bit beyond that is possible. Obviously, test pilots are not going to overspeed the limits of the airframe to pull off a stunt in a flight testing scenario, unless they're crazy. This is someone that didn't give a damn.

Ok, would you rather they go about their normal training flights, or answer the call of duty? What's the difference in costs?

What about the fire that this piece of shite caused when he crashed the plane? You think it just puts itself out without destroying any wildlife or property?
