Rocky IV is on and I wonder in the history of sports had the home crowd ever switched sides?

This always made me laugh because, could you imagine changing who you root for when you hate the other team/fighter in the middle of a game/fight?

Random thought for the night.

As they should have been.

Rocky Balboa was a gritty underdog. Perfect David and Goliath story - which matched the rhetoric but not the reality of the USSR's political system.

Should have stopped at Oscar worthy Rocky. No 2,3,4, or 5. 3 and 5 are particularly bad.

This has been my theory. The Russian people were being told that Drago couldn't be beat, he was almost like a machine, the Russians rule boxing, etc.. Then Rocky goes to Russia, trains the hard way and then takes a beat down until he prevailed again that big fricking Russian. The people couldn't believe what they saw and was so amazed they started chanting Rocky.

I was too young to appreciate it for its greatness, but I wonder if any Ruskies were chanting “USA” during the Miracle on ice.

The Russian crowds did not hate the USA or Rocky. They hated their government and were so inspired by the underdog Rocky that they decided to throw caution to the wind and let their true feelings be known. Rocky was the crowd, the plebs. Drago was the Communist Party.

LSU fans cheered for Parker Edwards when he went off against LSU basketball. It’s not an exact comparison since they were only cheering his individual effort and not the whole southeastern team. We were up 40 when his run started. That played a big part too.

I will watch 2. I just think it wasn't needed. Rocky was so much more than a title win.

3 is fricking retarded.

4 is a caricature of the series

5 well just forget 5.

Great "theory." Turns out that's exactly what happens in the movie.

Mr. T was great in Rocky III.
“ I don’t accept the challenge because Balboa is no challenge. But I’ll be happy to beat on him some more”

Your misguided opinion just got you a trip to Sonic, sir.

On Christmas Day to boot, using the Gregorian calendar. I hardly believe Ricky was aware of the Julian calendar observation.
