You could be. It's a tricky situation for sure, especially in today's chaos where social issues influence the law so much. And you'd have to handle it the right way. It most likely wouldn't be worth it, but technically and legally there is nothing prohibiting you from returning. It's not like the thug that just robbed you has some magic shield because you retreated. Again, a bad idea anyway though.

City Park may not even make the top 10 most “dangerous” parks in NOLA

Yep, when it happened to me it happened very fast. I opened the car door and instantly had a gun to my head. Concealed carry is a great thing, but I would have had no chance and probably gotten shot.
Took me about a year to get over it. Constantly looking over my shoulder and paranoid. Not that I'm not always watching my back, but this was different.
When NOPD came to take my statement they asked me what happened and I told them what happened. They started to leave and I was like "do you want to know make, model, year, color and license plate of my stolen vehicle?" fricking NOPD...
My car was used in over 4 car jackings that day and was found in the 9th ward. Apparently the thief picked up like 4 of his friends and went on a rampage. The car was fine except for the 5000 pounds of black fingerprint dust the cops used on the tan interior. They completely trashed it.

I thought at the time you could legally shoot someone stealing your car (not sure if true). Three things came to mind when I had his head in my sights from 10 feet away. 1- will his family come back and harm my children. 2- do I really want to take a life over a car. 3- court costs, trial and putting my family through that. Pretty sure I did the right thing and one of his kind killed him or he's in jail.

And yet there are at least a couple of people in this thread who’ve been robbed there, and I know of another.
I see a few responses in this thread saying how things should be, and those do nothing to affect how things are. Some parts of our major cities are dangerous.
