Not tubing, but if you want a little secret spot not one uses for kayaking, I would recommend the Old Tombigbee River in Northeast MS. Put in at Walkers Bridge and float to Old US 78 (it will dump into 20 mile creek).

There used to be SO many possible floats around here, but that’s not really the case anymore. When I was in high school and college, we floated multiple different places on the Amite, Tangipahoa, and Bogue Chitto.

I really don’t know of any on the Amite or Tangipahoa anymore. Bogue Chitto still has a few decent ones, but floating the river isn’t nearly as popular as it used to be.

They are spring-fed, so yes, they are a bit chilly if you just walk along the banks and dip your toe in

….but if you’re tubing in the Texas sun in the middle of the summer, the water feels damn good

If you like Texas country music, there is a venue called Whitewater amphitheater that has awesome music on weekends

The Chattahoochee in the northern metro of Atlanta.
Ichatucknee in Florida
I would think parts of the Tallapoosa north of Lake Martin would be good, but I have only canoed it.

River tubing? You high, trashy, or both?

Do a lazy river if it’s really ingrained in your DNA.

Hooch is still a good float (around Atlanta) and not necessarily trashy.

Never been, but have heard from several friends that the San Marcos River is popular with the college students at the university there.

Not as easy to get in and out like it was in the 80’s and 90’s unless you have property or know property owners. I think they still have a few places out towards Enon and Isabel for tubing, kayaking and canoeing. Personally, I don’t like that portion of the river and prefer stay further north of that area.

This is interesting. My husband and I got engaged in New Brunsfels. Might be nice long weekend trip to return 21 years later

Not tubing, but I’ll be opening up a kayak business in LA very soon.

With a state with so much water, it is funny that the kayaking culture hasn't caught on. Most people I know that have kayaks have either motorized ones, or fishing sized monstrosities with every bell and whistle you can imagine.
