the nbc link above states that the dog that died was found in a closet inside the bathroom where the wife's body was found...if the bathroom door was closed, the other two dogs must have been elsewhere in the house...

ETA: apparently, one of the live dogs was actually inside the bathroom as well...hmmm...maybe it just wasn't interested in the pills, if the deceased dog actually consumed some of them...

If they had cats instead of dogs they'd already been eaten.

reason #2000 as to why cats are better than dogs. Their will to survive.

This is the way I see it. Dog got into pills, died. Woman stumbled upon dog and was so upset. Took an overdose and died. Then sometime later, man found woman and dog, walked out, didn't know what to do, keeled over and had a heart attack and died.

This whole situation is feeling a bit like the Chris Benoit family murders.

Who will play Gene Hackman in the documentary about this?

I ran across an interview where Gene Hackman talked about his dad leaving the family. Said he was around 13 playing with some friends down the street when his dad slowly drove by, gave him a wave and that was the last time he saw him. He got emotional taking about it and then joked that it’s been only 65 years. Here you got a man who’s an award winning actor and a master of emotional expressions but can’t hide his hurt emotion. Just reminds how important it is for a child to have loving parents in its life.

I can’t watch video, but the article at NBC link is currently a little ambiguous on status of dog in bathroom.
quote:

A German shepherd was found about 10 feet from her in a closet in the bathroom.
If not for being in a closet I would think this means lack of movement with the German Shepherd, but if the closet 10ft away was closed that could be restricting its movement. Doesn’t mention being closed or mention a kennel. Doesn’t mention dog being alive or dead. Earlier it mentioned they both were found along side dog, but Hackman wasn’t found next to wife.

Then after mentioning where Hackman was found it mentions the 2 “other” dogs found alive
quote:

Two other dogs were found alive on the property; one was in the bathroom with Arakawa and the other was outside the home.
If the dog found alive in bathroom was the 2nd dog in bathroom with the wife a 2nd dog wasn’t mentioned when going over the wife’s death and what was found with her in bathroom.

Then it goes back to mentioning kennel which wasn’t mentioned about the dog found in closet
quote:

"That's concerning. And then there was also a dog that was in a kennel that was also found deceased."

Might be this way because it’s being updated with additional info a lot as day goes on, but it is not marking each addition/edit and leaving some of the old stuff that may be talking about same dog with different descriptions of how it was found.

Why is everyone acting like a dead dog found with decomposing bodies died from eating pills? The dog probably just didn’t have access to food or water.

because the dog was in a kennel in the bathroom with the pills strewn about?

seems plausible he could have eaten some of the pills and died.

In the story I read, he said that his father's wave is what drove him into acting. I can't remember the exact reasoning.
