I had a great uncle who did local stock theater. He had a bit part with Hackman in Runaway Jury, as a prospective juror

I saw that. The one dog that died was in a kennel, but it wasn’t clear if locked in or just went inside it to die.
Maybe it’s just their procedure requiring family or someone they knew or DNA to official identify dead bodies to the press, but they were not able to identify the bodies found in separate bedrooms Wednesday afternoon until early this morning.

The couple, who had been married since 1991, were found dead in separate bedrooms of their Santa Fe home, police revealed. One of their three dogs was also found dead inside a kennel.
Police have said that no foul play is suspected and that two dogs survived the triple tragedy.
While the bodies were found Wednesday afternoon, police were not able to identify them as the actor and Arakawa until Thursday morning, according to KOB 4.
Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza did not provide a cause of death, nor did he say when the couple might have died, when asked by local media.
Further updates on the shocking triple tragedy are expected later on Thursday.

Actress/singer Alicia Witt's parents died when their heating failed during a cold spell.

I’ve had to do welfare checks before, and it all makes sense. There is nothing like getting a call for one of these, especially in the middle of the summer, pulling up, getting out of the car and you know instantly from the smell that you have someone dead inside. That may be the reason for the neighbor asking for a welfare check. It would also explain the delay in identification of the bodies, from the expanding gasses due to decomposition, if caught early enough. If not, further decomposition could have occurred which would also make identification difficult.

He had some great roles… “no way out” was a great movie…

Weird that the wellness check ( who requested it?) was done at 1:30 yesterday afternoon and the internet didn't know about this until late last night.

The best twist ending since Rosebud.

While not the greatest movie ever, he was fantastic in The Royal Tenenbaums.

Royal Tenenbaums is a great movie.
I saw a report that they were both "mummified" when found.

I place Royal Tenenbaums as a mid tier Wes Anderson film. It’s not nearly as good as Rushmore or Life Aquatic, but it’s better than Darjeeling or Grand Budapest. Subjective, of course.
Either way, Hackman played Royal to perfection. He sold the slimeball so well!

Wow. That's sad. Double suicide or murder/suicide I wonder.

Not sure if it's been mentioned here but I heard on the radio earlier that a gas company was part of the investigation... sounds like a leak.
Posted on 2/27/25 at 12:01 pm to terd ferguson
The gas company investigated but found no evidence of any sort of gas leak. And fire department/police department said no signs of carbon monoxide leak.
Plus one of the dogs was found alive inside. Wife was found in the bathroom with pills scattered all over apparently.

I would question their Egyptian neighbors...

Murder/Suicide?
Dog died in kennel no access to food or water? Two living dogs, discounts the carbon monoxide theory.
Just a thought.

Confirmed no gas leak
Pills were found scattered about
No clue how the cops would say no foul play expected

A whole thread and nobody mentioned The Replacements??

Based on what I’ve heard so far, Hackman murdered his wife two weeks ago.
He finally did himself in yesterday.
I’m not sure why he only killed one of the three dogs though?
